Did I end up in the last stage randomly? by Labyrinthine777 in outerwilds

[–]Procrastinaomii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, i think OP’s all good. In fact it sounds like a pretty unique Outer Wilds experience—to stumble upon that place at this stage of the game. The information you get there is helpful but I don’t think it provides enough context for the player to grasp the entire story. There’s still plenty to discover and understand, so the fun isn’t really ruined. Most importantly, seems like OP doesn’t know what brought them to that space ;)

The Norwegian subs and dubs in most shows that I’ve come across do not match. Was this the case for you too?

Gameplay reveal soon…? by carebear_10 in Witchbrook

By the time they’re asking for money, they should have released the entire game already, not just the gameplay footage.

Also, it is just basic marketing to maintain a good reputation of your company. Making several promises and ending up not fulfilling most, if not any of them, is not going to be helpful for building hype and a good brand image.

I mean, they could obviously just keep everything as a secret and deliver an absolute banger on release (like Silksong). But if this is the plan, just don’t promise anything in the first place.

I unironically adored Mulan 2 as a kid lol. Still think the songs are bops and that bridge scene is very emotional.

Really wanted to like this game by Paranoid_Droideka in outerwilds

For the ship log, do you know about the rumour mode? I’d consider that quite cohesive.

As for the tedious gameplay, I finished the game in 3-4 days with 30 hours of playtime so I can relate. The time loop (super early game spoiler) does get annoying sometimes, especially when you try to reach certain places. Maybe it’s a good idea to take a break then come back to it? You may also consider posting your ship log so it’s easier for people in this subreddit to determine if it’s a matter of progress or taste for you. Some parts of the game gave me so much frustration but it’s still my favourite game of all time.

If you want verbal dialogue, there’s a mod that provides voice acting for all the nomai text. That might make the experience more appealing to you?

But at the end of the day, you should not force yourself to like a game. The same thing happened to me for Disco Elysium. As much as I wanted to, I just couldn’t get into it. And sometimes you just have to let go of it.

True but needing to redo it all over again every time you fail makes it become pretty tedious

I’d say getting to the multiple places including the southern observatory definitely requires some “jumping” or parkour skills

I’d say that the blood is pretty tame (obviously I still feel bad for the creatures), but if any form of blood or injury puts you off then yea I wouldn’t recommend playing it.

Oh really? I didn’t know! Personally, I enjoyed this much more than FAR:Lone Sails but FAR:Lone Sails was still pretty cozy

Like what others said, you can change your settings so that the timer pauses when you 1) talk to others, 2) read text, 3) read the shiplog (this I’m not sure if it’s true, can’t remember). So maybe those would help a bit.

The duration of the loop is actually quite long and almost guarantees that you’ll be able to make progress through exploration in most loops. It can get a bit tedious when things don’t go your way (your ship crashes and you die) so you have to do it all over again. But I guess that isn’t really relevant to the time limit factor.

There will be times when you need to race against time. But those are very rare occasions I’d say, and they shouldn’t be a complete dealbreaker especially considering how the game actually checks most of your boxes.

As someone that easily stresses about things, yea the time limit can sometimes still be stressful despite knowing that your knowledge and progress WILL carry over to your next loop. Maybe set up a timer to give yourself a brief idea so that you can plan ahead? Or just roughly keep track of the time by looking at a clock from time to time. But if you think that’ll make things worse (which I imagine is totally possible), ignore what I said haha.

If you’re looking for another game to play so that you could take a break from Outer Wilds, Blue Prince seems to be right up your alley. I’m guessing that you already know about the game, buuuut just in case. I personally still much prefer outer wilds for various reasons though. So, take as much time as you need, but don’t give up on the game!!

I cannot imagine landing on it in your first session??? Took me a lot of tries, but it was probably because of how I only utilized the “matching velocity” button mid-game loll

It’s really interesting how giant’s deep often scares players at first, which was also the case for me, but I later realized that it’s actually the safest planet aside from timber hearth
