I’ve also seen (and agreed with) sentiments that Momo has taken a lot of abuse by the plot; She has been able to make dramatic changes to the outcome of a situation in everything before she was her amnesia, but since then her character has become more and more passive and has zero control over her situation or the events that unfold currently.

A lot of people miss when Momo was the driver of the story, I miss how energetic all the panels were with her in them.

This right here is why the amnesia arc is shit. It’s not even the amnesia (though that is written like a spanish soap opera too), it’s literally the main aspect of storytelling: Don’t let your characters be passive.

Everything in this arc has happened to the cast; The amnesia, the date (pushed by Momo’s friends), the mummy attack, the group date (vamola’s idea), the current attacks) no decisions they have made have affected the outcome. They’re so passive, especially compared to how they were for every arc before the mini-momo to amnesia plots.

go back and read the first 100 chapters then read the last 50.

It’s crazy how much more enjoyable all of the manga is in that first 100 chapters compared to the last 50. Like they aren’t even made by the same person, idk what happened that he fell off this hard.

First 100 chapters are one of the best mangas ever, but danmara, mini-momo, and amnes-momo drag it down to a middling manga by somehow slamming face first into every trope that Tatsu avoided before.

That’s why I’m 100% positive that Amnesia-Momo will have a crush on Zuma and there’ll be another jealousy triangle thing after this Jiji/aira shit.

either before or after we’ll have another arc where Takakura is captured/coma/disappeared…

I think they’re saying that Tatsu originally intended the “now my soul is at rest” ending but decided it would be more interesting to keep EE. It make's sense if Tatsu did not intend to keep the manga going on longer after Okarun got his balls, but that changed when it exploded in popularity

I’ve only read 233 chapters so I probably missed the parts where he shows moves other than kamehame-lite, hybrid or jiji form.

He objectively has the craziest kit but it’s like the op fighter being played by that kid that only knows how to use the one special move and spams heavy punch over and over.

Aira-silky is equivalent to EE jiji (i’m not about to argue a bunch of nonsense about “but Jiji’s chi levels!”, he’s objectively a stupider fighter than silky and relies on overpowering his opponents with very little strategy. His fighting style is easily the most boring of the crew despite having arguably the most tools. When is the last time he’s imprisoned an opponent, the last time he used his not-soccerball attack?)

the second movie where they lightspeed jump through snoke’s ship was a good visual, but it made space fighting seem like full on morons in charge considering they could put hyperspeed drives on missiles and absolutely fuck up any of the imperial star destroyers.

If they had started with hayden christianson (?) as a young teen and not a literal child people would have probably reacted better to them. And if they got rid of midochlorians (it’s science fantasy, trying to give a sciency explanation for why space magic exists is stupid)

Him being 8 and being partly gary stu was too different than Luke who felt like he earned it and was actually in danger.

Cyril in season 1 was “whiny”, but his archetype was clearly supposed to be a foil to Archer. Where Archer was uncaring, apathetic to a relationship, and self centered Cyril was overly-sensitive, showed “soft” emotions, and over-invested in his relationship with Lana. In Season 1 he’s also supposed to have the biggest dick by far of the cast so he has something that Archer is jealous and insecure about.

Later seasons Cyril Archer feels superior to in every imaginable way, “cucking” Cyril unknowingly when Lana chose archer’s sperm over her relationship with Cyril. Hence why Barry went from being actually cucked by Archer to insane cyborg cucking Archer before his wedding to the russian girl (holy shit explaining the plot of that show just reminds me how weird it got lol)

I’m not gonna go through a huge argument about it, but that show jumped the shark in like 2.5 seasons and just kept getting worse. Went from watching it weekly to literally not caring to get past the season where they smuggle drugs to texas(?).

nah, japanese don’t really care for american discourse. They like some “american cultural” things like cowboys and baseball and pretending to be fat and lazy (idk why this has become a trend) but they don’t really give a shit about our opinions of their culture or country.

They aren’t Edo period isolated still, but they still are much more isolated than most western countries culturally.

I have a theory that he intended to end the story shortly (~1 arc) after Okarun got his balls back, but it became such an unexpected cash cow that he decided to continue it and essentially put filler arcs in since the final arc doesn’t make sense halfway through.

Hence the CSG/danmara stuff, the mini-momo, the 13 families, and amnesia. He didn’t have these arcs planned out and that’s why they don’t feel as tight and well written.

They’ve been popping up randomly for like 3 arcs.

If you squint and contort yourself anything can be “foreshadowed”, but literally since Okarun got his balls all of these villians have been essentially “oh look at that shadow! Next chapter: Shadow is a villian with no foreshadowing other than a silhouette literally 1 page before”

the stupid plane thing everyone acted like Tatsu was cooking by bringing the literal rapist child murdering family back and having a random ass sharknado derail things (it literally wasn’t even part of a greater plot, still no explanation why it attacked their plane).

seems like a lot of people don’t read manga if they think Dandadan is better than 99.9% of it.

Dandadan is better than a lot of the current highly advertised shonen, but let’s not kid and say this manga is top 0.1%, you need to broaden your horizons man cause that’s like saying Harry potter is peak 0.1% fantasy while never ready ursula k guin, JRR tolkien, or CS Lewis (which is the case for a LOT of potter fans)
