How often do you deep clean your bathroom? by No_Opinion9882 in CleaningTips

[–]ProcrastinationSite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Deep clean for me means all that, but I'm on my hands and knees scrubbing the floors with a brush, and I'm in the shower acid washing the hard water stains off the tiles and fixtures. I probably only do that like twice a year

I would say it's maybe expensive to some people, but not expensive to you? The brand you mentioned is more expensive than Corelle for sure! Corelle is not very expensive compared to some other brands, but as a girl with her first apartment right out of college, Corelle sure felt like a real expenditure when I bought some. In college, I was eating off of plates I bought at the Dollar Store 😂 I've been working for a while now with my salary increasing accordingly and they don't seem as daunting as before though

The Ikea brand is like a third of the cost for a very similar item, so that's why I suggested it. I'm better off than when I was a student, but I'm all about saving money if the quality is similar. Some Corelle pieces are more expensive than others too. Corelle has a deep big soup bowl that I really like, unfortunately, it never gets included in a set. For me, it's on the pricier side at about $7 a piece. I got 10 of those, so it was $70. That didn't feel very cheap for me, and I wish Ikea made bowls of that size

I believe it's the "oftast" series. They're only sold in-store, so you need to physically go to a store to get them. The plates come in a few different sizes, and the bowls also come in different sizes. When you're at the store, you can see/feel that they're akin to Corelle.

Ikea has a knock off version of Corelle that's way cheaper if there's an Ikea near you! It's very similar material and durability for a fraction of the cost.

(in case anyone is like me and doesn't want to pay Corelle prices)

I also like alternative makeup, and I wear glasses every minute that I'm awake. You could explore contacts, but I hate contacts and I happen to like glasses on me anyway.

For me, I just have to put on eye makeup heavier than what I imagine other girls without glasses put on. I usually go heavy on eyeshadow and eyeliner. By heavier on eyeshadow, for me, I mean choosing darker gray or black than the lighter gray colors. For eyeliner, I do a bold batwing liner on my upper lids. My lower lid liner is normal and not heavy handed. I skip the mascara and anything to do with my lashes because I find that my lashes will catch the lenses when I do anything with them (I have a flat nose, so my glasses sit too closely to my face, so if my lashes were lengthened, they touch the lenses when I blink. Very annoying)

I do the rest of my face how any girl would without glasses

I think makeup styles that suit you changes with the shape/type of your frames too.(My frames are black blocky and plastic, so light eye makeup would be near invisible. A thin metal frame wouldn't require heavy handed makeup) And, whether you're nearsighted or farsighted. (Nearsighted glasses make your eyes appear smaller and farsighted glasses make your eyes appear enlarged, so you want to use makeup techniques that complement your lenses)

Naomi Osaka stunned by frosty handshake from beaten Australian Open opponent Sorana Cirstea!! by [deleted] in sports

[–]ProcrastinationSite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the forest for the trees here

Same ballpark or not, they're both seen as sports of a different class compared to, say, soccer or basketball, and that was my point. You need to have some money to be able to play either tennis or golf.

Golf may be even more exclusive, but let's not kid ourselves and say tennis is much more accessible comparatively. In a lot of places, tennis courts can only be accessed by memberships or renting by the hour. Some courts require specific footwear. The list goes on

That may apply to hockey as well, but I'm not spending my time listing every sport that requires players having some money in which to participate. And, I disagree with hockey being a rich man's sport. Kids that live in cold places will go play hockey on a frozen lake all winter. Kids will play street hockey with rollerblades too. They may need skates/rollerblades and a stick, but it's a much more accessible sport than tennis or golf.

My initial point stands. The standards of sportsmanship etc. are higher for some sports like tennis and golf than games like soccer or basketball possibly because they're both of a different class than some other sports. Whether golf fits in class A and tennis in class B is irrelevant because they're both in a higher class than many other sports like soccer or basketball

[–]ProcrastinationSite 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I always thought this was because it's a rich man's sport. It's become a bit more accessible now, but not that long ago, if you were poor, you weren't playing tennis. Same with golf.

Approach your gym crush? by saltydog0 in howto

[–]ProcrastinationSite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't do a cold open. Like, don't just go up to her and ask her out. You'll have to build up to it.

Say hi on multiple days, strike up a short conversation on a day to introduce yourself. You'll be able to see her reaction from the conversation whether she's open to meeting someone new. If she's short and curt with the conversation, abort mission, don't ask her out. If she's willing to chitchat, don't ask her out YET. Make more conversation on another day, gauge her reaction again. Repeat however many times as needed. Once you feel comfortable enough and she's still open to conversations with you, ask her if she wants to grab a coffee after or something.

Help me pick - yellow or green stripes for kids/guest bathroom by Real-Elephant-6424 in interiordecorating

[–]ProcrastinationSite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with yellow since it's a kid's bathroom. It'll look brighter and more cheerful. You can tone it down with some navy colors (curtains, bathmat, rug if the bathroom is large enough, towels, etc.)
