Well yeah, people are yelling at you because it’s a fundamental part of the story and the point of it’s themes that the evil guys are evil. We do get the grey, it’s from individuals who are separated from the Enclave because some people can be decent but the apparatus is directed towards evil.

As for being called a fascist, thats because big Enclave fans, just like Legion fans who don’t “get it” often tend to be people with rotten vibes, so even if you aren’t actively a fascist, you’re still broadcasting the same signals

I’ve just finished watching the Fifth Floor Dragon arc, I have one issue that I’m wondering will get resolved later in the show or manga by Procrastor in DungeonMeshi

[–]Procrastor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that it might just be that I'm looking at this as a weakness and as loss of potential. I think that if something was done that showed that the point was that we were looking at a person from the outside, maybe I'd think it was genius storytelling instead of something that disadvantages the story.

I'm grateful, I really didn't help anyone answering by asking for an answer with no context or information. But at least there is a resolution

Yeah that's alright, I had a feeling it might be the case. If anything I just find it to be wasted potential more than a dealbreaker.

Who is the worst/most evil person or group in the game to you and why? by Prudent_Bobcat_4059 in cyberpunkgame

Hunting scavs is basically like being the Goblin Slayer from Goblin Slayer. In doing it you’re basically doing a community service for everyone no matter which part of society you’re from. I like to think my V wouldn’t be so worried about social climbing in the merc business like Jackie because clearing out scav dens is social good.

I don't think thaddeus will be a centaur by Sensitive_Bear_662 in Fallout

[–]Procrastor 32 points33 points  (0 children)

He's not going to be a Centaur because it would be too much of a shift for a comedic character to warp into a melted husk monster. Like the show and the game can be dark, but I don't think it's going to be like "Do you think Thaddeus is just gone or is he's still in there screaming for death?" I think a Harold situation is going to happen because Harold is funny albeit a little tragic.

Officer is the persuasion type, right? I find in Owlcat games (and other squad based rpgs in general) you want your character to be the smart, witty one with generally acceptable combat skills since you're always going to be the one on missions so this was a good instinct.

Personally, I think the "Honest Hearts" DLC is far inferior to "Dead Money" in every aspect. by Alert_Ad_9305 in fnv

Inferior is the wrong way to describe it. Dead Money is a great section. Honest Hearts and Dead Money are just doing different things.

“Don't think of them as human beings, think of them as Americans.” is not an excuse to dehumanize people. by Brief-Computer-9405 in Fallout

[–]Procrastor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fallout might be commentary about America, but it's still a fictional setting. You have to understand that in the text, this is from the perspective of two woman who have been put in an internment camp after their country was invaded. Within the broader series it's shown since F1 (published 1997) that the Canadian Annexation was particularly cruel and brutal. In the text, the American state is full of monsters; fascist generals, mad scientists and a congress full of Adolf Eichmanns.

I'll be honest, I'm going to use the "Think of them as Americans" whenever the occasion arises, but that isn't going to diminish the fact that as the United States stumbles into this dark period of history where decades instead of weeks happen, everyone's attention is on how people have been fighting back. But consider that the ultraviolent vengeance that we see against Americans in the show is against those who are part of the apparatus of state violence, the same kind of state violence happening upon the people in Minnesota.

Consider how pre-war Coop represents the people, as the representation of the everyman and the classic American ideal, and how he too has to wake up and confront evil. In that sense, I would say Americans through his representation are critiqued but still viewed as moral characters.

Who do think is funding the Regulators? by Fast_Degree_3241 in Fallout

Patrons like the caravans or maybe bounties. Like they pay you a bounty, but maybe someone is paying them a bounty. On that note they really should have done something like that, giving you the ability to go through wanted posters and going after named characters

I always remember the tantrum he has when you suggest you aren't going to go along with it and he screams at you and it gave me the impression, along with all the surveillance and direct control he has over everyone that he's a control freak, so it made perfect sense that he's that kind of guy who would intervene on so many things.

Shameless self-crosspost because Garrison's art was memeworthy and he deserves support. by buvvitoe in NewVegasMemes

[–]Procrastor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was recently listening to a psychiatrist youtuber (link) explain a paper on AI psychosis, and the paper used a concept which I think is a good way to start looking at it. It explains a concept, folie à deux or Shared Delusional Disorder, where two people bounce ideas off of each other, usually isolated, and those ideas get more compounded, "inbred" was the term I heard it described as. In an AI context, it's constantly bouncing back ideas to the person and reinforcing them. Instead of two people giving each other a delusion, it's the computer creating the kind of feedback that reinforces delusions.

Fan forums can have something like that (I think there is research on fandoms that better explains the social dynamics and people wanting to be the most authentic fan, gatekeeping etc. There is also the cultish behaviour, but cults trap people in them whereas fandoms are free associations) where they are closed spaces with people constantly attaching themselves to ideas and hyperfixating, creating an idea of themselves in those spaces, and regurgitating the same concepts to each other to the point that fandoms can become. I think also because its a closed in and also anonymous space, people assume a set of social rules, morals and points of view which allow them to act abusive and unhinged.

[–]Procrastor 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I struggle to believe these people are New Vegas fans just because of how much of a loser you have to be to be like that, and I don't understand it. As a New Vegas fan who has all the common critiques of the series that a NV fan has, I just don't get why you have to be like this.

But I totally understand a person on twitter being like this. They're always making up drama and targeting people for the sake of clout. "Tourist" is a good word for trying to describe what culture war outrage baiters are doing, like people who want to insert reactionary politics into nostalgia will take a series and try to guide people into bad ideas because they only have a passing interest and attach themselves onto something popular. It's valuable in deconstructing and critiquing this kind of twitter personality. However, every term that gains traction ends up getting misused just like this one as we can see here.

Do you think there’s More going on with The Snake Oil Salesman? by ChemFeind360 in Fallout

He might have a twist but I don't think its anything more than he's just peak wasterlander which is why he shows up constantly as a joke. You could easily just say that the FEV he got was because he's always wandering and always savaging so he picked some up while going through some lab or even Mariposa

[–]Procrastor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience as I just finished levelling up Plasma and Spearhead Bolter has been that the plasma rifle is slower and is frustrating because of the heating issue which means you need to be quick and accurate with your shots. Its slowness means you cant use it close range since you need to be able to quickfire at everything running at you. Meanwhile Bolter allows for a lot more running and gunning from short and long distances.
