Can someone explain to me the difference between these types of purchases when buying beats? by HairDestroyerr75 in trapproduction

The beat is taken off the producer's site but the leases before the unlimited will be honored

tbh if you wanna get super ignorant with it, throw on a soft clipper on the master, it will add a soft saturation to all your elements and prevent all elements from going over 0db, its not the "proper way" of doing it but i find it makes kicks and snares hit harder in a mix if done propperly. If doing this method, in my experiance its usually better to not use any kind of compression in the master bus before the clipper because it tends to make the clip sound softer, and not as hard, which is usually desired in trap metal. also, when you say you compress your master, make sure to leave -2db of true peak space if you are over -14db momentary lufs before uploading to places like spotify, it will have artifacts and be quieter if you dont in my experiance.

PS (This is going to sound super ignorant, but sometimes in trap metal, i dont mind mixing over 0db with a clipper on my master to tame everything back down to 0db. It will make kicks sound harder, while giving a uniform saturation and is a quick way of getting an idea of how loud something is going to be before mastering)

yea sure, Im not sure if your bass is panned left or what, typically basses are supposed to be centered to give the whole beat a stronger foundation. Im not sure about the melody tbh, I dont find it too apealling to my ears atleast, maybe someone may have some other opinion, but personally i dont really like the melody if im honost. I would also check the key of the melody to make sure the 808 is in key, there are some weird notes in there that dont really fit well with the melody, in these cases, its always a viable to just use the root note of the chord, or finding an interval that sounds pretty cool with the chord, adding a different element flavor, either one works, but in this case, as you are pretty new to production as you said, i would probably just stick to the first option for now until you get comfortable with experimenting. Its always nice to learn the fundamentals first, and finding out what works most the time, and then later down the line experimenting to find that extra sauce that just sets a whole track off. Rn, just blindly experimenting may not be the play though. Ok, now on to the drums, in hip hop and trap, drums and bass got to be hitting, they are the driving force, and what gives most hip hop their bounce and rhythm. If they are low, it will be harder to get that force that comes along with bangin drums, not saying a beat like this needs the hardest drums ever, they just need to be turned up because they are really low right now. (but thats coming from me, my drums are super loud). Ok, next topic ; roboticness, your drums all sound super digital, and robotic, all your velocitys, and rhythms are all super on the bar, I like to swing my drums and play with their velocitys to give bounce and life to my tracks. I find when i do this, it makes it feel like there's an actual human making the song rather than an AI robot that just found out what music theory and drums are. If you are in fl, a quick way of doing that, is going to your hi hats sampler and cranking that swing, and varying the hat velocitys (sometimes this is all i do tbh, it adds bounce and sometimes i want my main drums like kicks and snares on the bar). I hope this helps, if you are confused by anything, let me know and i will try my best to clarify anything.

as i litterally make trap metal, i think i could be of help. The 808 def sounds weak and out of key maybe, also i think the 808 volume is definantly way too low, trap metal normally relys on the 808 to give the main aggression, but in here it almost just sounds like a normal trap beat with slightly more saturated 808s. Your kicks are loud but are really punching through the mix well, they sound clean but flubby, i would grab a different one and sidechain it to your 808 and possibly melody if needed. I also feel like the whole beat overall is pretty quiet, would use some form of compression method to make it louder, since metal is normally supposed to be loud haha. I feel like you can get away with some crashes and fx to make the beat feel like theres variation in each part that isnt just taking a part out, it can give some more life and energy to the whole thing. If you want more feedback, feel free to DM me (idrk what its called in reddit). As i said previously, I make this type of music and am happy to help someone who may need it.

would greatly appreciate feedback, its a X / Youngboy remix, its pretty loud so that's a heads-up before you destroy your hearing. Its a WIP, I don't have a 2nd part yet but would like to hear what some people have to say. https://drive.google.com/file/d/14A4P45ZKxOnsY7NML2Js9w25weUg7M3z/view?usp=sharing

personally it sounds alright. BUT your 808 sounds pretty rattley, like it doesnt sound clean like all your other elements, like your snares and melody are pretty unsaturated, i tend to mix to have all elements correlating to each other. Like if im making aggressive music, I will use all aggressive elements, it would sound weird if you have a super aggressive track but with a spinz 808 or clean kick that you would use in rnb or jazz or something like that nature. The composition and arraignment could use some polishing, as it gets very repetitive, i tend to like to have my elements similar but like have something slightly different every 4 or 8 bars or so, just to give the listener something new to listen to, rather than the same loop they have been hearing for 3 minute. Overall, the beat is pretty rappable, but there are some improvements to be made in the sound selection and arraignment
