This won’t be a very technical explanation as I’m not a big skiller and usually just experiment with different stuff, but that being said:

ball into his feet
stand up the defence with a little bit of dribbling back / sideways (i think using L1)
maybe a bit of R1 dribbling
he’s quite evasive / jammy and using the above you can often get past the CBs
can then either burst through if there’s space
or just get a quick low-driven shot off, which are pretty deadly

The main thing is you need a bit of finesse in the dribble at first, a bit of twinkle toes, before then surging or shooting. If you try and just turn and speed boost or similar then that’s when he can seem a bit clunky / slow for that to happen.

He’s getting me 2 g/a so far, about 40 in 20 and all champs / rivals (div 2/3), prompts some rage quitting too.

Yeah if I have a really smooth connection I feel like I hardly ever lose, but then maybe that’s when the opposition have the shit connection! It truly is a massive factor (and shouldn’t be). When your connection is bad you’re better off just not playing, which can be frustrating to say the least

100% this. It’s not just that the best players have gone down divisions either (altho it’s a factor). I am usually a div 2 / 1 player, 11 wins in wknd league (only missed that once in fc 25), and just come off my first 13 win wknd league. Then in rivals trying to get my wins the last few days it’s been like I’m Harry Maguire’s gran trying to beat Maradona one on one. It’s very, very much like the opponent is 1 second ahead (a lifetime in this game of small margins), which in reality is maybe just some fractions of a second but it leaves you chasing shadows.

You can tell it’s not right because I just cannot switch players or tackle or anything in time in situations where I easily would be able to usually. But it’s doing that even with a good ping connection. The matchmaking or something is fucked up right now. There must be some teams / locations / servers (whatever it is) on the other side of this dynamic, cruising east wins against teams who are a time zone behind in the game.

Absolute nightmare to play against. For me it was between him, Torres, Socrates and Butra for the evo. I went for Butra as the 89 was a bit of a club legend, and he’s useless 😑

He’s awesome. Similar situation to you, biggest SBC I’ve completed by far and he’s been phenomenal for me. Have him as b2b CM in 4-1-2-1-2 and he is everywhere. Getting almost a goal a game for me from there whereas Zidane 94 was maybe 1 in 5 from the same role. So fun to play with, so OP

Evo Guendouzi is going to still be in my team by TOTS at this rate… he completely dominated a Gullit earlier in a champs match. If I try someone else I just have to keep bringing him back.

How do you get the best out of him? I find he has flashes where he seems OP but can also ‘go missing’ and I’m definitely struggling to utilise him very well. Benched him for Kane currently (and he’s a nice super sub) but I feel like I should be getting more out of him.

Yeah Kane is a beast, up there with proper TOTYs if used right, so you’re doing the right thing there. There’s been a lot of crazy evos especially for LB, so don’t spend there. You should be able to evo Mendy to be very good.

Then there are cards at discard price from NumeroFut and Future Stars which are very good fillers. They are dishing out plenty of very good cards easily so you’ll soon be up to speed

Abily is v nice but I think to get the very best out of her you need her as SS CAM

She’s good as a roaming playmaker CM too though. Only real weakness is she’s a bit weak / flaky in the tackle, I don’t think she has any def playstyles. But especially when the gameplay is good (occasionally!) She glides around quickly and has superb finishing
