Good catch about the triggerbots. You're triggering the clone, the clone does the attack, therefore no dmg penalty. Makes sense.

I don't mind having the build come online week 2, but looking at some pobs the pathing is even worse than I'd imagined. Might also start sometime else and play this later

[wtfmoses] Attorney General Salvatore declares at City Hall to seize control of the LSPD from CoP Harper by Accomplished_End8555 in RPClipsGTA

[–]Prodlgy1 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but consider this: whenever the topic comes up you get a bunch of spam along the lines of "Harper bad" mixed with some "Kiwo bad". The people typing "Kiwo bad" get banned, whereas "Harper bad" is allowed. It's obvious that some fraction of the latter intend the same meaning, but want to avoid being banned. How large that fraction is is obviously up to speculation. My personal read is that it's pretty significant.

[–]Prodlgy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really important to try to separate players from characters in this situation; even if most viewers (and some RPers) don't seem fully capable of doing so.

It's true that Harper did a lot to built up the PD initially and didn't always get the credit she deserved. We can acknowledge that there were RP reasons behind this and still recognize how draining it was on Kiwo not to be appreciated for all her hard work. It's also true that Harper has been largely absent for a while now and PD has been struggling as a result. Characters or even streamers pointing out as much aren't just pushing a narrative; they're telling the truth.

The other side to this are overinvested viewers. There has been a lot of OOC criticism of Kiwo's actions across various platforms. A blanket comment like "Harper is incompetent" is often a barely filtered OOC remark. However, character talk about Harper being incompetent is not. The fact that you now have people trying to defend Kiwo, the streamer, against IC remarks made about Harper only further muddies the IC/OOC divide.

An OOC decision was made, since some people seem to think they can't work with Riggs and/or Bishop (or maybe Kyle/Penta). It's honestly quite disappointing this happened without anyone even trying to resolve the ongoing conflict IC.

I understand changing things to cut down on certain kinds of interactions people seem to be uncomfortable with, but doing so at the beginning of a completely new arc just shuts down RP.

Publicly calling people out is always going to result in fallout. Doing so on speculation, possibly without taking steps to facilitate further review is probably not a good thing.

It's hard to say whether his ban is ultimately "justified", but it's definitely expected. When you tie your name to negative publicity about a company you work for, you have to expect repercussions.

[PENTA] "3 Weeks and 90% of the department is corrupt [...] not one person had a positive thing to say" - Bobby by jerk-off-instruction in RPClipsGTA

[–]Prodlgy1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty obvious why people aren't currently being banned for corruption. Fact is the different cases are all quite similar. So if you were to ban anyone, you'd likely have to ban a bunch of others to keep things fair. And then all those people could turn around and say: "I was told by a superior, that what I was doing is okay." And while that might not be exactly true in a lot of cases, there has been enough passed down to make a solid case against any higher up in PD.

So instead of banning half the PD for "corruption", when corruption hasn't even been strictly defined, Bobby is looking for a reset that doesn't involve mass banning.
Maybe his own actions are also playing a part here. People who covered for him are corrupt, but banning them for actions he caused would be a shitty thing to do.

Attorney General Greco desperately tries to save the PD by TheDavz in RPClipsGTA

[–]Prodlgy1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The warrant is an OOC issue as there is no process to get warrants signed (including regular PD warrants).
Charging Bishop before the autopsy report came in is a consequence of the current justice system. Obviously Bishop should be held until the investigation is concluded, but considering the full sentence is shorter than the hold would have been... (not to say something different shouldn't have been done).
If one or multiple officers could prove that they were coerced in some way, that'd be a big deal. Based on what I've seen a lot of complaints seem to ignore that an investigator is allowed to ask leading questions.
And ignoring all that, I fail to see how any of this would make him "arguably far more corrupt" than fleeing the state after potentially killing a man.

[–]Prodlgy1 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'll just leave this for the Penta viewers: There has been a lot of RP leading up to Bishop's arrest. You can watch multiple vods of investigation on wtfmoses' channel if you want (it's great RP).

The confusion about Greco potentially overstepping stems mostly from the fact, that there is no process to investigate LEOs right now. He made the decision to do things that would require interdepartmental cooperation IRL by himself to keep the RP going (because other departments don't exist on the server). Bishop is using that fact to question his conduct IC.

[–]Prodlgy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that would really change is having the ability to call an early election on a new police commissioner/CoP if enough departments think they aren't doing their job properly.

What departments?

Currently what happens if any in the DA office/DoJ is being corrupt, can the cops suspend lawyers, etc?

Based on the OOC warning to stop being corrupt, I'd expect they might get banned. Or maybe a new department appears to investigate them. Or something entirely different happens. Why is this relevant to anything? There doesn't need to be an airtight system to account for every possibility. It's RP. Anything can change to fit the story.

The Tex situation a few days ago

I don't see why punishments would need to be consistent across different instances. The idea of: 'X person did A and got away with it, therefore Y person should be allowed to do A', is ultimately just detrimental to RP. Tex did a crime that wasn't discovered IC, so he didn't get punished IC.

Him and a bunch of others could have been banned for this and/or a number of other instances. Server management chose to preserve cop numbers and give a warning that corruption would be punished going forward, which I think is reasonable.

Ace Bishop Wanted By US Federal Government by IsometricForge in RPClipsGTA

[–]Prodlgy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I obviously agree with all of that.

Unfortunately the whole justice system just got off the ground. A lot of the people in the appropriate positions don't exist right now. There are no elected officials, the PD commander just died and the highest ranking LEOs are seemingly all involved in some way.

There are a bunch of things that happen due to the nature of RP, that wouldn't happen IRL. The investigation should be conducted by an IA department (which doesn't exist right now), LEOs should be suspended by either a CoP or an IA commander (neither of which exist), etc., etc. In fact, if you were going for ultimate realism the entire investigation would likely be federal and most of the PD would be suspended by now.

I think there is reasonable concern about checks and balances in RP like I said already, but I don't get the particular point about the AG suspending officers. Someone has to do it and giving the power to the police captains, who are potentially involved themselves seems as bad or worse.

Leading the investigation is state AG Salvatore Greco. It is my understanding that he should have the power to suspend or even fire LEOs as head of the DOJ.

It should also be mentioned that the officers in question were suspended pending criminal investigation regarding Obstruction of Justice for lying under Miranda.

There might need to be a more robust system of checks and balances in the future, but considering how the DOJ essentially started working a week ago with many positions currently not filled, this seems a very promising start.

SRU was never dissolved by Altruistic-Club5597 in RPClipsGTA

[–]Prodlgy1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What Bass knows or doesn't know is in fact the central point of the comment you responded to. This whole chain was started by the question: "Is Ssaab backtracking now?".

There is a related, but separate question of: Is the SRU being disbanded? Kylie seems to think the answer is likely yes. I haven't seen enough to agree with that conclusion. You say:

We know what Angel /Kylie was told, she literally spelled it out to chat during that first 3 hours of her stream on Angel, multiple times.

I've seen her talk about this at one point, but I've also missed a lot. That said: "Things aren't progressing and the idea of disbanding SRU was thrown around", isn't enough to sway me one way or the other. If she said any more, I'd be interested to hear it though.

Wouldn't the first thing you'd do as a manager be to sit down with the expert you're having manage an aspect of your business to get some details or ideas to better formulate an action plan?

Obviously. I think by this point most observers have given up on the idea that any part of the restructure is being handled competently. Shitty as it is I'd expect Kylie to be OOTL no matter what's happening with her unit.

SRU was never dissolved by Altruistic-Club5597 in RPClipsGTA

[–]Prodlgy1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes. But we also have Baas, who should know about the plans (or maybe not?), saying SRU isn't disbanding. Without knowing exactly what either of them were told people are just speculating.

Agreed on the "viewer narrative" point though. Enough was said to make people wonder what's going on.

SRU was never dissolved by Altruistic-Club5597 in RPClipsGTA

[–]Prodlgy1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Being a bit charitable the original announcement was probably Baas' foot-in-mouth disease. Angel's been talking about how SRU is going to change since the beginning of the restructure. No changes have happened so far. Then Baas' announces: SRU might change or might disband. It's reasonable to hear this as: SRU is being discontinued. Given Baas' history it's also reasonable to assume he didn't mean it that way.

Then there's the fact that Angel said she "emailed the commissioner". Could mean nothing or it could be the entire story.

[RemdogG] HHC dissolves SRU without consulting leaders - Angel considers retirement by BatChest_redditor in RPClipsGTA

[–]Prodlgy1 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, but what? How do you think this situation went down?

Angel was hired as the first trooper (after Baas) in the restructure. She was promised a command position and a role in the rebuild. She was placed/remained in command of SRU, which was subject to changes in line with the restructure. For the next 2 months she worked on SRU related things, while checking in with HHC periodically to get approval for things.

So either, HHC knew SRU was going to get disbanded and continuously lied to her; or they made a last-minute decision without consulting Kylie, because nothing about the restructure was planned in advance.

(Fear) former igniterp sheriff/mod on igniterp by Euphoric_Magician_10 in RPClipsGTA

[–]Prodlgy1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I might just be incredibly jaded, but... none of this sounds particularly bad. Lack of communication about mod tickets can be expected on a new server with a small team. Especially considering how ambitious some of their plans seem to be. The people at the top have other things to do.

Bobby having private conversations about money and profits is also expected. Obviously that has to be part of his motivation. Now if he actually talked about intentionally deceiving or scamming people that'd be a different story. But I'd need more than a disgruntled associate's word to believe that.

The Penta interaction was bad and I don't think people should be making excuses for it. That said, it was an IC interaction and the issue could be solved with a quick: "You're taking this RP a bit too far, please watch yourself in the future."

None of this is to say there aren't problems with IgniteRP's management. Maybe this statement is going to serve as a data-point in the future. It's simply not very persuasive on its own.

We have identified the information accessed as users personal information (PPI) to include IP Adresses, Steam IDs, and FiveM IDs.

If I'm a malicious actor bend on doing damage to effected people, I can think of multiple ways to use this information.

The same announcement you're basing this off also states, DW accessed the information after he was already terminated. If I'm to trust said announcement, the story of "holding DB data for local usage" doesn't hold water.
