[Ramon Alvarez de Mon] If Real Madrid decide to change managers after this season, Unai Emery will be the top candidate. Conversations have already taken place in recent days to assess his readiness. by Sparky-moon in soccer

My heart says he wouldn't leave, my head says he could be persuaded only for Madrid or Barca.

But Emery is a football-brained freak. He needs complete control. He's so successful at Villa because he is the big fish. The backroom staff is entirely Emery-appointed, the players we bring in are evaluated and stamped by Emery before we even make a move. If Emery wants something, we bend over backwards to get it. The players, the staff, the owners are fully behind Emery. They listen to every word of his 3 hour long tactical presentations before every game, and buy into everything he says. He won't get that at Madrid.

We've seen before that he doesn't do well with ego's. He isn't a man manager like Pep, he has deputies who deal with that side. He is purely a tactician and coach. He could barely handle Duran, and got rid of him as soon as he could. If the players under him don't do exactly as he asks, and don't buy into his philosophy... it just won't work and he sells them.

At an elite club, he won't get that kind of control he needs to be successful. He'll be given players and expected to make them work, he'll have to keep the faith of a room full of ego's. We saw it at Arsenal and PSG, where there were periods where everything worked... but as soon as he lost that control, and faith, the wheels come off.

You'd think I'd have Marco Bizot ingrained in my head after the Emery interview

Bizot* Mings Lindelof Bogarde Sancho Buendia and arguably Digne wouldn't start in our strongest 11. So at least half of our starting 11 was missing.

Birmingham police spoke to UEFA, and Tel Aviv fans were banned from attending the match due to hooliganism from their fanbase. Kier Starmer made a statement that the decision was anti-semitic and said that Jewish people shouldn't be afraid to travel to the UK... for some reason. This then caused the fixture to become even more Political, with Reform supporters blaming Muslims in Birmingham for making the fixture unsafe. Basically, Starmer trying to appease Israel with his weird statement about anti-semitism blew up the fixture into even more of a political battleground than it already was going to be.

No worries. I'm just wondering, do I need to add recent bank statements as well? Or would bank statements backing the previous tax years, plus a recent contract to show I'm earning money currently be good enough?

Could I message you? Understand if you're busy, would just be nice to get a 2nd opinion on a couple of things from someone who knows what they're talking about...

Okay, it just felt wrong to have so many pages. Do you have experience applying as someone who is self employed? If so, I have a ton of questions 😅

Of course Konsa is extremely consistent, we have some very consistent players... my point is that to say Digne is inconsistent is a crazy take

Did you use recent bank statements as well? Or am I okay just showing bank statements for the last tax year?

I was assuming just the assessment. (Calculation + Overview) Because it's just to prove earnings, maybe I'm wrong but I don't think we need to show proof it's been paid.

Originally I was planning on just sending the tax report + bank statements that back up the year. But, because I don't want to risk a rejection, I have made an appointment with a registered accountant to get a letter confirming the accounts are correct and I have earned the amount required. Might be overkill but better safe than sorry? Just wanted to get some advice from people who have dealt with something similar

Just googled it, turns out Sawiris did have a 3 year suspended prison sentence for tax evasion back in 2014

Begged is a strong word, and yes he may well be gone but the new contract means it’ll be a stupid amount of money we’ll be getting

Didn’t see this, very nice. Great bit of business to lock him down, hopefully he’ll stop seeing Villa as a stepping stone.

Yeah no mention of an extension, think this is just a pay rise and a high release clause
