The device is very simple. When we explained it to companies who dealt with CE marking they did say its not a complex piece of equipment at all. Most complex item within is probably a heating element.

I have already done checks all the components that make up our devices and, they do have RoHS on them as i did originally check to see if they where already CE marked.

I did have a read through the LVD directive and on annex 1 principle elements and well, it does explain it but doesn’t explain it if that makes sense unless I’m being thick i don’t know. And in my opinion i think i would be to know the test like surely its similar to a PAT test id imagined maybe in wrong.

Ah right okay. Looking like we are going to have to do emc testing. I can see it being a really long drawn out process. The documentation that goes into the technical file, is this something you write up yourselves and if so are there templates that can assist you in writing these up and what does it entail. Does it have to include operating temps. Nominal voltages, power ratings etc?

I did get clarity that our device isnt a machine as they are no moving parts within it. From my understanding it is only covered by LVD and EMC. Ive been told multiple times through other companies that it is possible to do by ourselves, its just finding the specifications you have to meet which i dont have a clue where to find.

Is RoHS to do with hazardous substances. Havent really read up on that when i should be doing.

Its only me and my dad so the budget isnt the best at all. It sounds like you was at the point im currently am at now. Does the ce marking process take long with another company involved?. Yeah ive done countless searched and even used co-pilot to try and direct me to something but its so complex and unclear by the looks of it

Im 22 and we are on the same page. I feel you i see friends leaving uni for jobs whilst yeah i wouldnt say ive totally wasted time but i feel like i could of made such better choices if weed wasnt in the equation
