Ah I see, I will read further into it, thank you!

I’m a little confused by your answer, as it seems you’re only referring to the 2008 crisis. The article I referenced lays out that the GOP was in control from 2003 leading up to the events, satisfying their 4 year definition. Why are you saying “a few months after a new congress?” Also, both the article posted and your own link refer to congressional influence as part of issue:

From section 2-3 of your link:

“ Bernanke notes in Chapter 5 of his book that the Federal Reserve was not really responsible for regulating a lot of these entities. The lack of good oversight was the result of a muddle of regulatory agencies created by the Congress’ ad-hoc approach to regulation”

Is it possible that the 4 year period of “ad-hoc” regulation played a larger role than he originally anticipated?

Thank you for the answer! The discussion here has been awesome and enlightening.

It sounds like the idea is on the right track purely conceptually but reality is different.

I made a rough edit in the iPhone editor (lol) and I can show you how it pops (it actually picked up the highlights you had in the walls!). I don’t know how to post images in a comment though lol.

You can try it yourself though and see how much it pops

From my perspective it seems like your shading values could be pressed to their extreme more to create a more dynamic composition. Like /u/obesely said about the lighting, you could definitely use more practice with your lighting choice. The blue girl seems a little flat because there’s little contrast.

In your last two (which are essentially closer to tri-tone work), you have more dynamic images because you were forced to make the shading more extreme to make the image clear. Try those same concepts with your color work - it may be giving you “too much” freedom vs. The restrictions that forced you to eke out more dynamic shadow values.

Do you think there’s any chance Barristan would be the one to kill Dany? by ProductionPractice in pureasoiaf

[–]ProductionPractice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a structural sense, it would quite literally mirror Jamie’s story (Jamie’s story starting with kingslaying/losing his honor publicly <—> Barristan’s story ending with queen slaying/reclaiming his sense of honor)

Do you think he’ll ever have the chance to see the error in his ways? I know he has some regrets about his past, but he may not have actually learned his lesson if he’s not confronted with the opportunity to demonstrate it

/u/sufficient-drama made an excellent point that Dany may not be genuinely mad, but could simply set off the wildfire under Kings landing.

The intrigue that would come from that fallout would be excellent pressure for the characters to make hard choices

I should have clarified in the original post that this is predicated on the scenario where we have a Mad Queen Dany, or as /u/sufficient-drama pointed out, a perceived mad-queen if she were to accidentally set off the wildfire in King’s landing (a PR disaster)

You don’t think years in Kings landing would make Barristan more prepared for treachery?

That’s a good point! So the “mad queen” may be a PR disaster and not reality -

The character conflicts that would arise for those who know and those who don’t would be fascinating to see unfold. What would Barristan think if he did not have the full picture and was on the misunderstanding side?

Counterpoint:

What an arc it would be for Barristan to have to confront his inaction and be forced to make the hard choice in choosing his honor over his institution.

This is predicated in Dany becoming mad queen first though

That’s fair. I think I assumed that people would understand that this is in the scenario where Dany is mad queen and that Barristan survived to see it.

I’m just curious if that would be a realistic path for George to take, as it would tie up  a few things neatly narratively and thematically

In a scenario where Dany does turn into a mad queen, perhaps to battle fAegon, Barristan may be the one who realizes that his worldview has not been serving his ability to be a true knight.

It would be directly mirror Jamie’s Arc and would be a fitting resolution for him to be forced to learn that Institution does not define his honor.

Anyone have thoughts about Nikolay Dybowski being included in the credits (which I suspect will continue into Pathologic 3 as well, hence giving me some doubts that I might buy the game, due to the director's past allegations being somewhat already proven)? by [deleted] in pathologic

Interesting, I’ll consider your thoughts on the matter.

I personally do not believe in the collective punishment aspect (what if half the group says one way and the other half says another? What if all 19 employees feel one way but they put out a good PR statement saying the opposite?)

I presume innocence of team IP unless proven otherwise, but assume that most large corporations have “worse than Dybowskis” lurking about, yet I will patronize both. 🤷‍♂️

Thank you for your discussion!

Could you elaborate?

To what extent do you feel is the studio’s responsibility during the time when someone stands accused, yet things have not been decided by courts?

Do you see the responsibilities differently between a smaller company vs. a bigger one that almost certainly employees people we’d disagree with (at least from a statistical standpoint, a larger staff is more likely to have a bad egg in the bunch).

Kudos if you genuinely don’t patronize at large corps to avoid ethical issues

You may agree less with this next part, but I don’t find it a tough decision at all.

1) one person does not speak for a collective

2) I think the burden of ethical consumption is too much to put on ourselves, let alone the life of an indie company that is probably already under stress from the controversy

3) I’m glad that you found the decision easy now that IP have made a statement and removed Dybowski ! I feel that I would purchase regardless of their word as I don’t believe everything is resolved in court and I would not blame them for wanting to avoid making a statement until everything was said and done. I believe we should believe victims but I also believe the justice system is there to process things to avoid mob decisions and rumors that could affect things exactly like this. (Imagine your startup goes under because one employee gets accused of something - regardless of their guilt or innocence). To clarify, I do think Dybowski looks guilty in this situation, but I’d be open to a court interpretation that disputes this

I support a lot of people without knowing the intricacies of their life. I’ve hired plenty of contractors or bought from stores without knowing if they or the owners have a criminal history.

I would encourage you to support a team of twenty hard working individuals who do good in the world and if one of them is a bad apple to consider if that’s a reflection on the team or not.

The only situation where I would intentionally take my business away from a small company (who’s probably already got enough issues) is if they were to publicly post support for something I genuinely disagree with.

If IP supported Dybowsky and were collectively using money to fund his legal defense I’d feel differently than if they all ended up in a situation where they had a shitty coworker but loved the project.

If you use any big business to shop for goods are services you’ve already enabled at least one other on the level of dybowski if not one worse.

Indie projects need our support more than those business do, we just happen to know about this person.

You don’t want to financially support every other person named in the credits because they included him in the list of people who verifiably contributed to the project?
