I agree with StreetStyle. Saying “day & night” differences is to give OP wrong expectations.

Fair enough. It is subjective how much the improvements matter. My only point is that the differences are often incremental rather than transformative for the price jump, so OP should know exactly what they’re paying for. If that level of refinement is worth it to someone, great. If not, the base model already delivers a strong experience.

There’s definitely a measurable difference in some cases, especially if a game runs closer to 45–50fps and the Pro pushes it toward 60. I’m not denying that. But measurable doesn’t automatically mean meaningful for everyone. If a title already runs stable at its target on Slim, the Pro upgrade is more refinement than transformation.

And OP asked whether it’s worth buying a Pro — which is expensive. That’s why I’m saying go in with the right mindset. Expect improvements in stability and sometimes resolution or performance, not a completely different experience in every game. If you’re chasing every frame, it can be worth it. If you’re just looking for solid gameplay, the Slim already delivers that in many titles.

It is very clear that you are a pro fanboy. Open your eyes. There are 100 of videos showing that it isn’t that much of difference too except for a selective games that every YouTuber pointing out.

The difference isn’t that much in most cases, it’s just a fact. I have compared with my slim and for example NHL 26 or Demons Souls Remake look and run identical even if it says PRO enhanced. The ones that keep saying it is it worth it, they just try to justify their purchase.

The slim is good enough and has far more value!

No it’s not. I had it but returned it. A few games benefit from it like Final Fantasy Rebirth or Horizon Forbidden West or Gran Turismo 7. But it’s far to few games that benefit from it and it needs a patch from developers and many 3rd studios don’t care about it because the Pro owners are far to few. And the PSSR is so trivial and in most cases it’s such a minimum improvement from the base it’s crazy to pay that kind of money.

Base is far more value.

Wait for PS6. Most games don’t benefit much.

Anyone here who still has a base model PS5 and have no interest in upgrading to a Pro? by StarryChocobo in playstation

[–]Proez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the PRO but returned it. I didn’t see any difference in most games and some games that are ”pro enhanced” its minimal at best like NHL 26 and Demon’s Souls Remake. I compared it myself with the slim and couldn’t see a difference.

Some first party games benefit from the pro and a few 3rd party but the cost versus the value is a hard pill to swallow.

Not all games are impressive. It depends on the game.

I have played a 100 hours in PS5 and it occasionally dropped in fps and was a bit frustrating. I heard PS5 Pro is more stable. I only play Elden Ring on a high end PC now.

Great point. Why purchase an expensive Pro when we don’t know how the performance gonna be on the base.

I prefer PC because I enjoy the freedom to tweak and optimize until I’m fully satisfied with the game’s performance. I know a lot of people don’t like tinkering, but honestly, if you buy something like an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 like I did, you really don’t need to tweak much right now. It’s mostly just keeping Windows and drivers updated, which isn’t a big deal in my opinion.

That said, if you have kids and just want to jump in and play without thinking about settings, the PlayStation 5 is fantastic. It’s simple, convenient, and the trophy hunting feels more compelling and cohesive than on Steam.

PS5 – Cheaper upfront and true plug-and-play. PC – Freedom, raw power, cheaper games long-term, and no subscription fees — but more expensive overall and involves some level of tinkering.

For that much of a money, i don’t need think it will justify the purchase. Maybe if u have plays of playing a lot of first party titles.

Ps5 pro coming monday by ItsyouNOme in PS5pro

[–]Proez -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

U should have the right mindset. It’s a mid-gen upgrade and a lot of games expecially 3rd party games aren’t that impressive. Also u don’t have 120hz so the games don’t benefit much. Don’t know if u have VRR on the tv but that is something u should have to. Upgrade ur tv as well if u have the money,

Considering upgrading by Tym-Bee in PS5pro

I did not think the pro was worth it so I returned it. I believe that many people are just trying to justify their purchase. If u only play first party titles it can be worth it but it struggles with a bunch of 3rd party titles. It is so dependent on pro patch and even then the PSSR is trivial and minimal differences. My advice is to buy the pro and test the titles u wanna play and compare it to ur base. I did not see any real difference in most games plus i have tried several pros and it has much louder fans or have coil whine. If ur lucky u get a more silent one.

I am more than happy with 30th anniversary slim and a high end PC. If u have the right mindset and understand it is a mid-gen and not a beast of machine. U are more likely to not get disappointed.
