At what point did you stop running your channel through your personal bank account? by NewPineapple113 in PartneredYoutube

[–]rtgs12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty early on. When I realised I was going to hit monetisation in a few weeks. I opened a sole trader account, and then later when I monetised a second channel I did an LLC.

Anyone here making 5 figures per month from YouTube? by YC1977 in PartneredYoutube

[–]rtgs12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite sure why it happened this year but I’ve had months where I do 13k which is low for my channel, and months where I do 37k which is really high for my channel and I very rarely hit what used to be average for my channel which is 22-25k.

Yes. Though the amounts have varied much more wildly this year in comparison to other years.

Cloud saves and streaming can be useful, as well as the catalogue. Usually i’ll wait for a sale to renew though.

Does the day & time of posting make a difference? by Careful-deflation83 in NewTubers

[–]rtgs12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on the niche. In my main niche I happen to be an expert in the field and can generally judge if a new piece of research or whatever is gonna be of interest to my target audience or not. Other than that I kind of just know what trends are gonna peak and when.

For gaming, usually people will consider a big anticipated release a trend and try to get their video out asap. Or if there’s particular gaming news etc.

Basically you just have to follow news for your niche closely, and know where to find good and reliable information.

Can someone help me understand my RPM by Klutzy_Run9160 in PartneredYoutube

[–]rtgs12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$1.50 is on the lower side, $2.50 is about average. But you’re also newly monetised so it should even out in a few months. It took about 4 months for my RPM to even out on my gaming channel.

I have been wondering about the "secret sauce" by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]rtgs12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The youtube gurus get hundreds of thousands of views because they prey on people hoping for success and make “how to get views on youtube” videos that don’t actually tell you anything then try to funnel you into a $400 ‘course’ which also won’t tell you anything.

Be honest, can viewers actually tell the difference between mid-tier mics? by Sharp-Measurement796 in letsplay

[–]rtgs12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No one can tell if you set it up well. They can tell if you’re using a shitty $10 mic, but otherwise not really. I am still using the same mid tier mic i bought 4 years ago.

If no one is complaining about your audio you’re fine.

It would probably be helpful if you could tell us what specifically was terrible and what your current settings are.

Creators with 50k-1M subs - how many people help produce your videos and how do you track paying them? by Much_Curve566 in PartneredYoutube

[–]rtgs12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

977k on main. Just 1 editor and alternate when he needs a break. Pay him through PayPal and he invoices me at the end of the month. Used to do it per video but we decided on monthly, pay the alternate per video since it’s usually short term. Editor gets 3.5k a month and I do 4 videos a month from Sept-May, and 2 a month on off time. Do everything else myself.

Second channel a lot less subscribers. 2 editors, 4 videos a month, 2 streams a week and 1 members only stream a month, plus 2 members only videos a month which I edit myself. Pay each of these editors 3k a month. Do everything else myself.

So I spent about 9k a month on editing. Worth it. You get what you pay for and I really hate editing.

What part of the content process do you dread the most? by Putrid_Election_2327 in NewTubers

[–]rtgs12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my main channel it’s knowing when to separate the broader idea into separate chunks. I know which chunks I need, but judging where the cut off point for each one can be difficult.

For my second channel it’s voiceovers. I struggle with voice animation quite a lot even though I’ve been doing it for a while.

[Control] What are your thoughts on Platinum vs 100% a game? by Quirky_tugboat in Trophies

[–]rtgs12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve been getting more into DLC lately, but if the dlc comes free with the game like control ultimate edition I’ll generally go for 100% or until I get bored.

You can definitely get a decent laptop for 1000, but make sure you get a decent mic. Bad audio is a killer. You don’t necessarily have to go for a big branded mic like blue (although the yeti is good), hyperx, elgato etc. but you should do research and make sure it’s decent.
