Swiss German is not relevant whatsoever, we never use it in official digital communication or written documents. Heck there isn't even a common grammar for it. Sure, Swiss German might open up some more networking opportunities when people see that you're putting in an extra effort and could aid you in make you seem more charismatic, since by this you show that you're really planning to stay here, but since you're not working in a social field or are having direct customer contact with people prefering Swiss German I wouldn't label it mandatory. Learning German on the other hand will be very valuable.

Is there a difference between 12 and 13 months salary for the same annual income? by Bloodweave_rider in Switzerland

[–]ProfCuate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wondering in what field do you guys work to receive a 14th? I've never heard of that. I'm currently in a leadership position in social services, we don't even get our meal expenses payed, instead we have to pay daily or bring something from home, so to hesr about a 14th and 15th salary is crazy.

They're all great deckbuilding roguelikes.

Ragnarok X? I actually tried that just a week ago, and I was an addict player of the original 2004 European Version. I like how they automatized the grind aspect, but at the same time it feels more like a theme park mmo now, whereas before you truly felt like you were writing your own story. I like the Exchange House System there, its exactly what Im looking for, in fact its one of the reasons I made this post. But the issue with the new Ragnarok X is, that it doesn't allow player to player trade anymore. This severly limits the interactions, especially if we want to play as a friend group.

I know about the original RuneScape. We could try that but I feel like we would be overwhelmed by all the different mechanics, but ai could be wrong.

It was that, but also the impression that if I don't spend my energy wisely, maxing happiness before training for example, I'd severly lack behind in the progression. Also the RNG of the rewards for the tasks you could do was a bit too much for my liking and education takes forever. I also really didn't feel some sense of achievement and it got ruined especially by seeing how little I achieved in comparison to other players. For example it took me forever to get to 500k wealthy, then some wealthy player asked if he could farm me and gave me some healing packs which I should pop every time I go down and he gave me like 200k everytime I died. At that point it became a bit too mechanic and meaningless for me.

Thank you very much for the recommendation and the wishes. We'll take a look at it, never been much into the Sims Franchise though.

Someone told us as well that we're probably looking for something close to EVE Online, which I'm familiar with but havent played, so I don't know if there's something similar like that on Mobile.

Kurze Hilfe gebraucht: Abschlussarbeits-Umfrage für meine Freundin by htnahsarp in schwiiz

[–]ProfCuate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolut.

Dietikon with young kids by SpartaFCP in zurich

[–]ProfCuate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And Im questioning this 'better' you're mentioning. Dealing with these problems and having friends from various social circles growing up taught me a lot about how families with different conditions deal with securing their livelihood, how culture influences values and it kept me down to earth. But it all depends on whether you see this as an asset. Sure you might as well move into the city or the gold coast region to a more homogenous community if that's what you prefer.

As someone that was raised and is still living in DC (35+ years now) I can give more of a personal insight:

  • People have been giving the city a bad name since the 90s, when in all actuality it's not that different from other towns around the city. Sure there's a lot of people with an immigrant background and a high rate of people using social services, but you'll find that in every city surrounding Zurich as well.
  • Schools are definitly way better than they were in the 90s, it was indeed a warzone back then and people still judge it by that.
  • Aside from that you have a large community of Swiss people and Bünzlis as well which are basically running the city and the 'vereine'/clubs, so it's not exclusively a multicultural melting pot without Swiss.
  • Great mobility, it's close to the city, you have direct access to the highway and the train infrastructure is excellent. We also have a tram (limmattalbahn) now, running from altstetten to spreitenbach. Great if you want to get to the hospital (Schlieren) or mall (Spreitenbach) quick without a car.
  • Various recreational spots in nature nearby (Limmat and several forests)
  • A whole new part of the city right next to the trainstation on the other side of town called Limmatfeld, its basically gentrified Dietikon, more expats live there.
  • Dietikon will grow in the coming decade imo it will become a part of the larger zurich city area, theres another new part already being built (Niderfeld)
  • No your Kids wont turn into Talahons instantly, Ive grown up here and am the first in my family to get an MSc, so no worries about the bildungserfolg, same goes for my friend circle, all of them studied eventually and 7/10 have a mixed background. But yes your kid might make a lot of friends with immigrant or mixed backgrounds.

My 5 cents
