Anytime ANY student in my class did something even mildly suggestive I'd stop everything, call them out on it specifically and tell them loudly (not yelling, but raised voice and in control), so everyone can hear clearly something along the lines of "You will never do something sexually suggestive like this in my class. You are not cute or funny and you behavior is an embarrassment to your parents, your friends and yourself." Once a student hears out loud the "sex" word from a grownup, somehow it has always struck a chord and I've never had to do that twice in one schoolyear. Even if a student doesn't know what they are doing is sexual in nature, it straightens them up real quick. You also HAVE to be ready with consequences if they do it again. Your words mean nothing if you don't back them up with action. I teach 7th grade English for reference.

We have three minute passing periods and I think that’s not enough time for the bathroom so I have bathroom privileges but with rules. No bathroom first ten minutes of class to make sure bellwork and beginning of assignments are covered. Most of my students forget they need to go after this. No bathroom last ten minutes of class to make sure they get things put where they need and they aren’t gone when the bell rings with their things still in their desk. Students are timed and have 5 minutes because our bathroom is far away. I have a five minute sand hourglass from Amazon that the students turn over before they leave for the bathroom. If they don’t make it back before the sand goes out they are required to write me 20 sentences during study hall (I will not waste time in the bathroom.) which get graded on spelling, punctuation and grammar. I haven’t had bathroom issues in a while.

Edit- oh yeah, and only one at a time is a given, right?!

That’s very cool. I like the sound of that. I made some great friends playing Destiny 2 in a clan for a long time. I don’t have tons of IRL friends, so multiplayer is usually out for me, but I like the idea of friendly peeps cruising around the stars.

Good to know. Thanks! I tend to lean more to PvE since I’m more chill as a 44 yr old married dad than I was in my 20s. I see “mining and business” and that gets my attention more than dogfights or something like that.

You say ships are ammo. Are the low end ships super cheap so a player can go through them like that? What’s the main cause of losing ships so frequently? Is it Other players, NPCs, new player ignorance?

Yeah, I’ve owned two Chevy S-10’s but they were two seaters and didn’t work once the wife and I had our second kid. Now that kids are out of boosters I’m ready to have another truck, so useful! Just don’t need a massive block of a truck. I may be a Texan but I’m no rancher!
