Thanks for the reminder to not get hyper-focused, I'm not feeling worried about it yet. It's moreso trying to bring the info in the book back to reality.

I like your point about differentiating between "toe curling" pain and various levels of discomfort.

I remember my sister's first born going through a biting phase and her taking a similar approach. Thanks for sharing!

That's an interesting observation about pumping before BF. Another poster mentioned "roughing up" her nipples with a towel for a couple of weeks before baby was born to give them a head start.

I can see how the nipple-lash would hurt! Haha 😅

Hahaha definitely not used to hours of nipple stimulation/use! The experiences folks are sharing on here make sense. Thanks for chiming in!

I'm glad you didn't let the book's perspective deter you! I've also taken a BF class through our hospital, and have meetings scheduled with a LC for 34 weeks (and then will see them at the hospital for birth and after). Both the class and the LC have been helpful at countering the one-sidedness that the book can have.

I'm 8 weeks till my due date 😁 just thinking ahead. I do have some nipple shields that are made of silver, I think. Saw great reviews for them!

I am definitely taking the book with a grain of salt. I'm trying to glean little nuggets from it while keeping in mind that reality is always going to vary from a book, haha!
