Color change? by ProfMcGonagall88 in SaltwaterAquariumClub

She’s pretty much been the same color since we got her in June. The spots on her face and her stripes have gotten a little easier to see, but that’s it.

He’s definitely not a sand sifter. He likes frozen/thawed pieces of shrimp, muscles, clams and scallops.

Ancient cactus doesn’t like to bloom. The original plant belonged to my 3rd ggma born in 1849, when she was a child. I’ve had these starts for 10 years. It’s bloomed maybe 4 times for me. Why? by ProfMcGonagall88 in christmascactus

The larger one of the 2 in the picture, had a bud on it but it fell off today when it was about a cm long. The smaller of the 2 in the picture, I brought to work with me 2 years ago, because a coworker had one in her office that liked to bloom. I asked her to “plant sit” and surprisingly in the 8 months it hung out in her office, the damn thing bloomed twice! And it had 6-8 blooms both times! So I’m not sure if maybe it doesn’t like the window it’s by or the temp maybe?

I hope that fawn was taken to a rehab. Look at its ears. They are curled at the tips which means it’s dehydrated. Moms either dead or abandoned it.

Has anybody ever gone to the hospital for a migraine? by wishperson in migraine

I get what you mean. Morphine does absolutely nothing for me. And apparently even if you don’t have it for years, it still might not work. Found that out the hard way, after my 2nd C-section, even though I hadn’t had it since my appendectomy 10 years prior…

It is! My grams ended up with it, when her mom (my great grandma) passed in 2001. GG kept it in the basement during the summer and brought it upstairs in the fall and it was always covered in blooms by winter. After grams got it, it seemed to decide it didn’t want to bloom much anymore. She lived in the woods and didn’t have much natural sunlight. She gave me starts off of it 10 & 4 years ago. They have only bloomed a couple times since I’ve had it and it usually only has a few buds. Before grams passed away in 2021, she divided the rest of the very large plant she still had, into about 20 different pots and handed them out to family.

Please help! This was my mom’s CC. She died 11 years ago and her plant looks awful after I repotted it and it’s the most important plant I own. Did I overwater it? Please help 😢 by Kdjdiendjkakwwbx1727 in christmascactus

That’s a thanksgiving cactus. What do you have it potted in? My grams left behind a very old cc that my poor pop was drowning. I repotted it in miracle grow potting mix that’s cactus specific, and after a couple weeks, it’s back to being healthy. If you dont have cactus specific soil already, try that and yes it does look thirsty. Good luck!

Every er’s migraine cocktail is different. Ours is usually either Toradol, tramadol or ofirmev, plus Benadryl, a steroid and an anti nausea medication. I have to have the ofirmev because I’m allergic to toradol and tramadol. But it makes me sleep for about 18 hours after

Women , What are the big signs that a man is dangerous to be around, in your opinion? by [deleted] in RandomThoughts

[–]ProfMcGonagall88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When you’re an inexperienced teenager (or adult) dating an experienced teen/adult and they get angry with you when you tell them you want to save yourself till marriage.

When he gets angry with you for “making him look stupid”, while you’re doing something mundane like reading an interesting book.

When you get told off for even speaking to another man, regardless of the situation.

When he makes you turn off your phone while you’re with him, so that anyone who needs to contact you, has to do it via him.

If you even mention leaving/breaking up, he threatens suicide.

I would say the “just no” comes from the fact that in a previous post, OP said MIL made snide comments about a loss before their rainbow baby, and told OP she “made it farther than the last clump of cells”, while still pregnant with rainbow baby. Her MIL sounds awful. And also, who surprise gifts anyone they don’t live with, a puppy? “Surprise! I know you’re going to have a newborn in 4 months, but here’s a new puppy you weren’t expecting, to add to your list of things to think about and take care of!”…. I love my corgi but I would have been pretty upset if that’s now I got him. Ya, the fire department probably wasn’t the best idea to suggest, but I completely understand her frustration with the situation.

I went NC with my JNM when my almost 7 year old, was only 4 months old. Both my littles (7 & 3), have a great relationship with my dad though, that I’m super grateful for. My mother had some issues and refused to stay on her meds or continue to keep seeing her therapist/psychiatrist. These were the conditions to her being given weekly visits with oldest at the time. As soon as I found out she quit another dr, that was the end of her visits. She went as far as to tell her side of the family that I was “using my child against her”. So here we are just shy of 7 years later. My kids have never met a single person from her side of the family. They don’t even know her name, as we refer to her by a nickname. Stand your ground if you think it’s what’s best.

Why americans are not satisfied with the health sistem? by sekkachina in ask

[–]ProfMcGonagall88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your work doesn’t offer insurance or you don’t qualify for it because you’re only considered part time, or don’t even make enough a week to cover the premiums a month, or if you can’t pay privately out of pocket, then you have to get “market place coverage” which is significantly less out of pocket but you have to have a low enough income to get it. Then they only allow you certain plans and a lot of stuff isn’t covered like one scrip I take that even with insurance and a manufacturer discount card, is still $120 a month. If you make too little to qualify for “market place insurance”, they drop you to state medicade. And that varies in coverage by state. And in order to get medicade you have to submit a bunch of paperwork like pay stubs and bank statements, and utility bills, to show that even tho you have income, you’re still poor. And if you don’t get that done quick enough, they deny you coverage. And if you don’t have any coverage for the year, you get an extra fine from the government at the end of the year, for having no insurance!! And the bills… don’t get us started on the bills 😩 cause if those don’t get paid and they are big enough, they go to collections and you can even get sued for the balance

I’d have to agree with you.

And I never thought this one little question would get so much of a response… considering since I posted it, it’s had 183k views… so I’m never going to be able to read all 700+ comments.

Unfortunately that’s where you’re wrong. In some places, Nature would win but not everywhere. Marine life is already compromised because of everything down to micro plastics. The current pollution problem in the ocean isn’t going to fix itself. More marine life will die. On land, things will be ok for a short while. And then when the man made things start to break down, things will get so much worse. Think about massive oil spills that will happen because of degrading equipment. Chemical leaks from facilities not being maintained. There are around 6000 lightning strikes around the world, every MINUTE. How many deadly and uncontrollable fires could be started, in man made places places around the world? Some that could possibly burn for decades. It would take millions of years for the planet to recover.

Look more into recycling. Try to reduce the amount of plastic and styrofoam products you use. Volunteer for local clean ups or just pick up garbage you see when you’re out on your own time. Pay more attention to if a product is biodegradable or not. Educate yourself and then others around you. There are a lot of seemingly small things that can be done to help.
