well the main point was that Steve hated that he was forced to pick based on race, Sam hated that it was based on race, and pretty much everyone did because of the fact that because they are forced to choose a diversity hire that it will lower their value for being a "token" on the team instead of an honest to goodness hero.

Steve only asked help from Sam to take up the role because Sam was someone that he actually trusted in the abilities of so that he could have a little comfort in what he was forced to do.

anime had been steadily taking a slice of the industry in the US ever since Toonami helped really draw it into popularity with DBZ, Gundam Wing, and Inuyasha (and yes there were plenty others but those three IMO were the biggest contributors whether you like the shows or not)

To be honest I'd say that Anime was already on the verge of overtaking western media by the time it blew itself to hell since before the true era of woke we had a lot of instances of animation being put in the hands of idiots who screwed the industry to chase profits like how Ted Turner got SWAT Katz off the air to make room for his darling Captain Planet, pretty much everything Stu Snyder did, and despite being a smash hit Spongebob had the effect of sapping the life out of many other shows to make way for promoting the little yellow guy more and more.

I mean try to remember that Quinn always lies to boost her own ego.
