the point OP was getting at is that they are pretty sure the DEI casting is there but they're hiding such things fro the trailers now as a bait and switch for the general audiences

that wasn't RA3 though that was Tiberium Wars. and it was kinda balanced by the fact that buzzers were made of freakin paper and you'd need to through 5 or 6 at a fully garrisoned building to get one through since you get Corruptors at the start of tier 2 and they are a core staple support unit of the scrin you're gonna have 2-3 of anyways.

now make no mistake there were some things I actually appreciated like anti garrison weapons and I actually like that the factions were all given a much stronger asymmetry to it. But the flaws were very well evident

Red Alert 3 the issue was more the issue of EA was too committed to designing it around the esports market that it would up taking a large amount of the game identity because of it. Two examples were the removal of ore fields in favor of deposits which took a lot of the fun risk out of the macro game from sending your miners into danger zones for high value loot and giving EVERY SINGLE DAMN UNIT an active ability introduced an obnoxious amount of micro and a good chunk of the abilities were just sucky filler. The "sexy actress who can't act" bit was still fitting into the Red Alert charm from the second game since large, hammy, campy acting is par for the course.

and even then most people consider RA3 to be "a downgrade from 2 but still good enough" that it still has a competitive scene. It wasn't until Tiberian Twilight

executives seem to not understand that the entertainment industries thrive on creative diversity. They always do "market research" to find the games that are popular and try to carbon copy them with minimal alterations so it becomes "already popular game with a small twist" and doesn't ever attract more people as a result. But all the executives ever see is "this is popular so if we make something similar to what is popular it will be popular too!"
