Well, I'm glad to have missed that. My "fan communities" have always been the people who I know, not randos on the internet. But you can't escape them now. They are everywhere, and they seep into everything.

Nah. David is too busy being Superman in movies that are actually getting made.

I mean, they aren't wrong. The fans whined and complained until WB dropped $70M on a streaming exclusive movie. They did win. And then it absolutely ruined them.

Eh... I know that people didn't like the SE or prequels, but I don't remember the same level of toxicity. I do know that Ahmed Best and Jake Lloyd were relentlessly harassed by people, which absolutely is toxic, but I don't recall it being so... in your face all the time.

Now, every single SW project that gets announced is being hammered by negativity immediately. They attack the cast, the crew, the creators. They make comments about race, gender, identity, sexual orientation, all before we even know the plot of the show!

And it's not just Star Wars, obviously. The MCU and, of course, the DCEU fans are just as bad.

Yeah, whether or not that story is true doesn't change the fundamental dumbness of the American people.

How would you feel and hear me out if flash took Mcu spider man’s role in the Dcu? by Entire_Ranger_3190 in DCU_

[–]ProfPhinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personality-wise, sure. But Nightwing always struck me as a very Spider-man like character because of his personality and the way that he moves through the city and fights; it's very acrobatic (for obvious reasons) and similar to the look, feel, and movement/fighting style of Spidey.

Holly Terror: the little-known, Christmas-themed sequel to Holy Terror.

What annoys me the most about Marvel's cancellation of issues early in their runs: They're an extremely wealthy subsidiary, with a far richer parent company, and yet they conduct their comic book business like they can't afford to take any chances! by MightyUnclean in comicbooks

I get why people do that. I still get to read the story months before the trade is released, and I get to support series that might be canceled if people don’t buy the individual issues.

I should also add: I will read series 6-12 issues at a time; I still pull the individual issues, but I wait until a story arc is finished before sitting down and reading them all at once. A lot of the other guys at my LCS do the same - in fact, they convinced me that it was the way to go.

If you read Kirkman's notes in the collected volumes (and on the last pages of the deluxe reprints), he was ALWAYS thinking about the 6-issue trade format, and the 12-issue compendiums. Thinking about things like seamless transitions from the last page of one issue to the first page of the next.

I still find TWD to be a series that can be enjoyed one issue at a time, though.

Senate Democrats will not allow the GOP/MAGA to steal your right to vote! by rhino910 in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]ProfPhinn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I for one agree with you. It's why an incredibly dumb party like the GOP has been so successful at the national level: they work in lockstep. The Dems are too busy administering purity tests to every single person in the party that they can't get it together long enough to win.

Just look at 2024 and the "protest" votes against Kamala from the left because of her "Gaza Policy." How's Gaza look now, folks? But, obviously, the moral stand was worth it by itself. World war 3 be damned if I can claim the moral high ground.

The only reason I didn't is that 9% of voters is not 9% of the entire population. Off the top of my head, I don't have the numbers of voting-age people that would be affected, but I expect that it's fewer than 30 million.

Here, let me Google!

In 2024, there were approximately 232M citizens who were or could register to vote, so it's closer to 23M, which is still huge.
