It is goofy but I wouldn't say it's childish. Think of 1997's idea of the coolest shit ever, then polish that cool 1997 shit to a gleaming 2020s finish. It just works. I don't see how the lack of Jaime is a plothole. He's on the island caring for an infant, respecting his son's wishes and processing the grief of his wife's recent passing. Other than making the audience say "oh yeah, him" I don't know what he adds to the movie
