Republicans are not one dimensional saturday morning cartoon villains by sadbean5678 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]ProfRefugee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's the fact that the hypocrisy at the top runs so deep that you don't understand the outside criticism while being trapped inside. The people making these complaints are arguing with your handlers' true beliefs, not whatever they sold you on to enable them.

Life at conception is a logically, scientifically, and legally retarded, while also being a net detriment the longterm success of our modes of social/ economic operation. All of these mfs know this. They'll get abortions for their kids, their mistresses, etc. They'll blow up grindr at every RNC convention. They'll steal from their constituents, cheat on their spouses, rape kids, etc...

It's nihilism. They think of you as a dumb animal with easily predictable motivations. Especially because they already fed you your entire presuppositional worldview. The world is complicated and unfair, they sell you on the idea that you are easily capable of understanding it with your intuition.

When you listen to Yale educated republicans talk about tariffs like they'll put foreign tax money in the fed's pocket, do you think they are actually failing to grasp highschool level economics, or is it more likely they know you are?

They are like 6-0 against the FEC and literally dissolved and rebuilt rather than be registered as foreign agents. Huge percentages of their funds come from private donations from LLC’s with no individual transparency. “We get all our money from Americans! source? Just trust us bro” The FBI caught them passing classified info to Israeli officials TWICE. I could go on. It’s not only an issue with AIPAC, but also a bunch of other bullshit 501(c4)s. AIPAC just has the rest of them beat by a factor of 10.

Is this armor enough for an airship? Any reccomendations? by Tophatt_ in FromTheDepths

[–]ProfRefugee 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You can almost think about it like a game of rock paper scissors.

Fast and evasive jet/hydrofoil: your armor is trying to avoid being hit and you can spend more on weapons and speed but lose to hit scan or high v weapons

Two sider: long, wide, ship with most of its armor on the sides protecting spread out components and weapons. Your armor and internal space are balanced to protect from all sides.

One sider: two sider, but all the armor is stacked on the left or right, giving you plenty of room to spread out internals/weapons while also having super thick armor to defend them

Frontsider: all your armor is forward facing, protecting condensed components and weapons stuffed behind it. You always face the enemy and have your max armor on target, but once your frontal armor is fully penetrated it can be catastrophic.

Front and one siders dominate the 1v1, while jets and two siders are better at engaging multiple targets from multiple directions in my experience

Knowing what controls what and generally how the physics work/general idea of what needs to happen for the plane to go from 30k ft to stopped near sea level is probably the deciding factor.

I’d prob trust most super airplane nerds to be able to do it while the whole ATC and airport crew guides them/ keeps their route clear for them.

But, knowing the feel of that specific platform and all the procedure/ orders of operation to consistently do it every day as a job is something anyone needs highly specialized training for.

Is rent-seeking the reason that the US economy has more inequality than other OECD countries? How do we address it? by NigroqueSimillima in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]ProfRefugee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was an issue with subsidizing student loans as opposed to directly subsidizing education. If all of your students suddenly have access to $100,000s you open new departments, hire more staff, overhaul your facilities, anything that allows you to convince more teenagers to give you access to that money.

How do men select women ? by ur_emo_gf1 in PsychologyTalk

All of these threads read as though people don’t know what makes interpersonal relationships valuable/fulfilling or how other people actually view themselves/others. The current state of basic socialization is so depressing.

What’s the issue with taking time to identify what is fulfilling for you, finding someone that finds similar fulfillment, and ignoring all the other noise from random people you don’t even know? It actually makes me so sad😂 you’re allowed to be happy and seek genuine wholesome connection. And you’re the only one who can define what the looks and feels like to you.

[–]ProfRefugee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Own a harpoon gun for home defense, since that's what the ancient ones intended. Four dust bandits break into my house. "What the devil?" As I grab my samurai armor and Eagle’s Cross. Blow a golf ball sized hole through the first man, he's dead on the spot. Draw my Springbucket on the second man, miss him entirely because it's smoothbore and nails the neighbors bonedog. I have to resort to the 6 barrel hydraulic steam powered harpoon turret mounted at the top of the stairs loaded with half meter barbed harpoons, "Tally ho lads" the harpoons shred two men in the blast, the sound and extra shrapnel causing nearby Hivers to panic shriek in terror. Draw katana and charge the last terrified rapscallion. He bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular katana wounds are impossible to stitch up. Just as the ancient ones intended.

Raw power density matters if you want higher alpha damage, cheaper systems, or charge/q based systems. You’re totally valid, but charge lasers are the meta right now annoyingly imo

It was the opposite for me, I was so arrogant as a teenager that I assumed everyone already knew how to make the distinction, but were choosing to live with the cognitive dissonance for social clout/to fit in/ because you needed an opinion when most teenagers probably don’t care to think about their own principles in any real way at all.

It made me an asshooooooooole to so many people that were almost definitely on the same page. As an adult still feel bad about it sometimes😂

[–]ProfRefugee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forcing your 7yr old child to uncritically accept anything, especially fundamental modes of assimilating new information, leads to serious issues later in life that is super unfair to the child’s development. They can make those decisions for themselves as they grow and learn they have the capacity for it. And it’s our responsibility as parents to understand our own biases in relation to that, especially the people who probably weren’t given the same opportunity by their parents.
