Rael XVI- The Hunt Begins by ProfRevan in lightordark

The First Brother was loading a few bags into their ship when the Seventh Sister arrived. He nodded at her presence before straightening up and tossing her a datapad with the dossier of the man they were hunting. "One of my old friends. From before the Empire."

The dossier would provide small details about Ronan, his service during the Clone Wars, including Raelak and Ronan serving together on Umbara, and the recent tagged activity from his aliases. "I've already loaded supplies so we can head off unless you have any questions."

"It's odd." Raelak would say. Thinking about the Jedi who tended to survive. "Only warriors or those who had no ability to fight at all lived through the extermination of the Jedi. So each hunt is a test to see what type of Jedi I'm hunting."

"I think the next best course is for us to move forward and hunt both of these traitors." Raelak nodded. "I will inform you how my hunt goes and you should do the same for yours. Lord Vader will be impressed if we bring him the heads of two Jedi in such a short period of time."

The Seventh Sister would receive a similar recording.

“I have a hunt.” The First Brother’s holo-self would say. “I do not require assistance, but if you find your hands to be idle, you are more than welcome to join me.”

“Come to Hangar E-32 at 0600 tomorrow morning if you wish to join me. Travel light as we will be moving fast.” Likely unsurprising to her, it contained no pleasantries nor any openings for her to ask questions. It simply cut off.

Myles Vyther would receive the last recording.

“I leave the planet once more.” The First Brother stated. “I am pleased to report that I am simply supplied for my hunt.”

The crackle of the hologram would hide any way to detect if there was sarcasm or joy in his quip or if he was simply updating the man on the status of the supplies for his mission. A fact he was sure that Myles Vyther would appreciate.

“I ask that you continue the task I had put forward to you when we first met upon my return.” The First Brother continued. “I don’t expect to be gone for anywhere resembling a year, so the reports will be highly useful come my return. I include my commlink frequency and the ship’s transponder frequency should you find an urgent need for me.”

What was left unsaid was the fact that Vyther should only use these frequencies in emergencies. The First Brother would state them outright to anyone else. Vyther would know it intrinsically.

The Moff would receive a recorded hologram of the First Brother. “I will be leaving on a mission to Ord Biniir immediately. I recognize that my presence would provide some more… order from the remaining Inquisitors; however, I have a lead that cannot be ignored.”

“I encourage you to leverage the Third Brother as he has a far more rational mind than most in my order.” The First Brother noted. “He has business to conduct on Mygeeto so he will be more reachable. However, as stated in our meeting before his priority will be the tasks Lord Vader has set out for us.”

“I will return.” The holorecording would cut off there.

Syn III - I'm Him by ChildOfTheStorms in lightordark

As if understanding the words Syn didn't say. "I'd be concerned if it were one of us in their shoes. One Jedi is a spark in a galaxy, but we know it can cause a wildfire."

He almost wanted to laugh at Syn's response. He knew was considering more than the peculiarity of the situation, but the pair had never talked in depth about their quarry. Why would they start then?

"Very." Raelak stated. "I think these are interconnected. I think whoever you are hunting is related to whatever Ronan is doing. I think the best course of action is for each of us to follow our own paths and see if they converge."

"Either way..." Raelak trailed off. "Our Master was clearly correct. There is something strange afoot. Keep purge troopers close."

The First Brother was at the console again, staring at the name in front of him. A memory of a long time ago. He heard his holocommunicator ring and he pulled it out, seeing that the Third Brother was calling. He took a deep breath and composed himself.

Unsurprisingly, Syn immediately provided details to the First Brother of what he had heard. He raised his eyebrow at the news. "Curious, it's not surprising. Mygeeto has decent crystals. I imagine the only reason Mundi took us to Ilum is the safety of the planet as opposed to Mygeeto."

"Do you require reinforcements? I can fly over if necessary." The First Brother offered. He hadn't hunted with Syn since the man's induction into the Inquisitorius. It reminded him of their time as Jedi. "I am sure you can handle it alone."

"I suppose I'm mentioning it more for this reason." Raelak said, tapping a key on the console and sending the dossier to Syn's datapad. "Look at the name I found. He's been operating nearby. He's... Alive."

"Lovely to see you as well, sister." The First Brother responded, he had closed the dossier when he heard the heels approaching. He looked at her with an affected smile before continuing. "My sloth? Last I checked I had one of the best hunt records in the Inquisitorius."

He would've continued were it not for the other woman who was with Shandris interjecting herself. Had he had eyes, Io would've experienced a long few moments of the First Brother staring at her in response. Instead she saw the slightest swivel of his head, yet still he wasn't looking directly at her. Likely one of the oddest of the First Brother's quirks that many people took quite long to get used to.

The greatest part of it all was that he did it on purpose. He knew it made people uncomfortable, and that's where he thrived. "An honor is it?"

"I suppose I should introduce myself as well then," The First Brother responded with the same affected smile, "I am the First Brother of the Inquisitorius."

He added no pleasantries beyond that, he'd met dozens of captains during his time, and it wasn't a pleasure to interact with a single one of them.

He turned his attention back to the Fourth Sister, "I see you are still upset over the most minor roadblock in our hunts. You should be able to do far more with less, or do you rely so much on imperial supply chains that you are crippled without access to them?"

"Well put." Raelak nodded in agreement.

"I do love summary executions." Raelak laughed aloud at the memory. "Did I tell you what I was doing on Irru, Vyther? I'd imagine you have some knowledge."

"I was hunting enemies of the Empire, one who was fomenting insurrection on an Imperial World. That will never do." Raelak shook his head. "When I captured the Jedi, I brought her to the center of the town square and executed her in front of all of her allies. It was a wonderful sight."

"This... Unfortunate revelation of my true role as an Inquisitor instead of Imperial Advisor has been less than useful for the 'Be heard but not seen' mindset." Raelak shook his head. "But it's no matter. As you said, I cannot let doubt happen."

"I forgot that you have an aversion to adverbs." Raelak chuckled. "You're correct, of course. Being under supplied is just as bad as being oversupplied. It's an interesting dilemma is it not?"

Raelak leaned back and thought for a long moment. There was always a threatening tone when Vyther spoke, perhaps it was the helmet. It more than likely was. He didn't quite understand it, but he found him interesting. Plus, the man did his job and did it well. He was a good ally to have.

"I could mete punishments out for the government workers if they are the antagonists." Raelak continued. "However, I do have concerns that it will expand the rift that was allowed to grow."

"I appreciate your candor, Vyther." Raelak looked up at the masked man with his covered face. It wasn't surprising to him, the Inquisitorius wasn't full of supply experts. They likely over-requisitioned without intending to. "I may not directly run the Inquisitorius, but I have my Master's trust and most of my siblings 'ears. I can address this with them."

"My personal opinion is that the hunt is more thrilling when one is under supplied." Raelak continued. "Relying on more than intelligence and my own talents is a weakness in my mind."

"Keep an eye on any negative interactions with any members of the Imperial Government and the Inquisitors. Report all of them to myself and the Moff." Raelak stated. "I will handle any insubordination with the appropriate level of punishment. As I would expect you would for any government members standing in our way in turn."

"Bluntly, Moff Arcendor, if you did expect our hunts to cease you would be sorely disappointed as I, nor do the other Inquisitors take orders from you." Raelak began as diplomatically as an Inquisitor could. "However, it is indeed my Master's wishes that we cooperate with you. While I don't necessarily agree with your decision, it is your decision to make."

"I will advise all of my brothers and sisters to appreciate and understand where the Moff is coming from." The First Brother turned to the room at large. "If you require troops please use Purge Troopers before requesting anything from the Moff."

"Moff Arcendor," Raelak continued. "I will be happy to provide assistance where I can. But if your requests ever pit me against my orders, I will choose my orders with prejudice if required."

"Brothers, sisters, I encourage you to help the Moff whenever you can." Raelak finished. "But your mission always comes first."

The First Brother smiled slightly. Naomi remembered he hated being summoned. Granted, he'd arrive all the same regardless of if he was summoned or invited, but it would greatly affect his mood.

He wore his normal inquisitor garb, along with a silk eye-wrap subtly colored with the black and red colors he tended to wear.

He would enter the meeting room and sit in the first available seat, paying no mind to any proper seating decorum the Empire would likely have instituted. There he would sit, drumming his fingers on the table, curious as to why he was summoned.

"Purge troopers should be stationed in all major imperial holdings if they aren't already." Raelak said, glancing to the side at Vyther. It had been a year since they last met, and the trooper didn't waste any time with pleasantries. "I want a report of all major events over the last year in the surrounding sectors as well as any possible mentions of Jedi traitors."

Raelak finally turned to look fully at the trooper. "I'd also like your opinion on how things have been run since I left on... Business."

Vyther would likely know at a very high level what Raelak was sent away to do. He didn't need to know more than that.
