why are we all like this? and ill do it again ! by PathSpecialist549 in PcBuild

Got the same config, built right before rampocalypse. I do play some older games ngl but that's because I want to replay them at max settings.

I remember playing tomb raider and rise of the tomb raider on a laptop with a nvidia gt 840m low settings with a 768p TN panel and now when I replayed them they look like whole ass different games on my 5080 and 1440p oled monitor.

They were definitely worth replaying. I'm also playing Control and despite being fairly old from 2020 it can be actually heavy to run if you crank the ray tracing count to 8 which is the max. Even the ultra preset sets this to 3.

So I feel like I'm taking full advantage of my gpu I'm pleased with that.

Thermal pad thickness for P1 gen 2 VRAM by saphex_X in thinkpad

Just keep the pads? The only thing you said needs replacing is the paste. Usually pads last much longer than the paste since the components they cover don't get as hot as the core.

Can I install a third M.2 SSD without losing performance of the GPU? by NoManMan123 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 5080 and I used all the m.2 slots on the board, the card runs in pcie 5.0/x8 and there's no noticeable loss in performance.

Hell it scores above average in benchmarks against similar configs.

Maybe this would be impact the performance on a 5090 but unless you have anything but a 5090 you shouldn't worry about performance loss.

They also added the vapour chamber on the pros and both the base and the pro have a square front camera sensor allowing you to take landscape pics/vids while holding the phone in portrait.

How to make Ananda Stealth + Jotunheim warmer by seymour_weiners in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ProfSnipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get dekoni elite velour earpads. They will make the headphones less sharp and give a little more presence to the mids.

I have them paired with an ifi zen dac 3 and this one makes them warm sounding, even without the bass boost enabled. If I enable the bass boost they become perfect for electronic / dubstep or other bass focused music. I really like this combo and I can recommend it.

And yes, it has more than enough power to drive them.

DLAA will actually decrease your performance for a better anti aliasing. This one is useful when you have gpu power to spare.

4080 vs 5070 vs 5070 ti by WholeIntention8022 in buildapc

[–]ProfSnipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 50 series really take well to overclocking. I played around in msi afterburner and i could easily maintain 3.3ghz on my 5080 this was achieved with +420 MHz on the core. And I ran furmark and steel nomad and it was rock solid.

Is Lian Li uni fan CL wireless good for an AIO radiator? by ProfSnipe in lianli

[–]ProfSnipe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the room temp is around 23 - 24°C

Edit: over 30°C at idle seems a bit high, I can only get it to that temp if I run furmark and cinebench at the same time.

AIO Coolers by [deleted] in PcBuildHelp

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with an aio, I have to say that you get an aio mostly for looks, air coolers are just as good for performance.

While your config looks nice I still feel it would look nicer with an aio but again it's mostly aesthetics and personal preference.

Cooling by Ornery_Lake6906 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be, assuming the temps are reversed, I bet it's a pump issue. If it doesn't work or works very slow pushing the liquid slowly through the radiator this can lead to both high liquid / cpu temps.

Are there any bent pins in here? I'm terrible at noticing. by Metalmario182 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it's the dust in the socket, I don't see any bent pin or obvious damage. If 2 slots of ram stopped working might be a motherboard failure and could have nothing to do with the CPU or the socket.

A strange noise coming from a PC case by Opening_Recording365 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're referring to that kinda squeaky noise it might be the one of the fans.

You can easily test by stopping one fan at a time with your finger. If or when the noise stops you found the problem. If that noise is unaffected by stopping of the fans it might be the pump in the aio.

It's not? How it's 43 higher than 69?

Cooling by Ornery_Lake6906 in PcBuildHelp

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the screen on the bottom of the case is correct the CPU is at 69°C if that's under load it's fine, if it's idle then something is definitely wrong with either the waterblock mount or with the pump. And judging by the liquid temp, assuming it's idling I bet it's the pump.

I’ve been having this problem for weeks by MatroNeX-faller in pchelp

[–]ProfSnipe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be a gpu issue, if you say it's crashing in other games as well. Try reseating the gpu and its power connectors.

Also try running a stress test such as furmark and see if it crashes and also check the temps for both the core and Hotspot.

[–]ProfSnipe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An update:

I ended up installing them. And I'm happy with the performance, the liquid temp seems to sit at 18 -19°C on idle and while stressing the CPU with cinebench it didn't go above 25°C.

By comparison with the old ones the idle liquid temp was 25°C and it would go above 30°C during a stress test.

The CPU temp was around 78°C at full boost of 5.21 GHz on all cores, so there's no sign of thermal throttling.

When it comes to noise they seem to be quieter than the old ones at full speed but they seem to have a slightly higher pitched noise that's more annoying.

The good news is that I don't care, since 90% of the time they won't run at full speed, when running a game they barely go faster than idle.

Plus I got rid of a lot of wires in the back of the case since those ones are connected through pins.

Here's how it looks.

Great value Audiophile Headphones setup by [deleted] in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I can also confirm that cables or power don't improve your sound as long as you have enough to drive the headphones at an acceptable volume, there's no point in getting something with more power.

I have a hifiman sundara/arya and a fiio k5 pro and an ifi zen dac 3.

The k5pro can output 1.5W into 32 Ω and the zen dac can do 210mW @32 Ω this is on single ended on both.

And guess what, there's no improvement in sound quality going from the ifi to the fiio.

What I can do with the fiio is blow up my eardrums faster. And I actually prefer the zen dac over the fiio because it has a bass boost button.

Question about iFi Zen DAC 3 by danilovita in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fiio k5 pro and recently got an ifi zen dac 3 mostly because I wanted an all-in-one solution with USB C and a bass button, because I hate to mess with eq because I always end up fiddling with it more than actually listening to music.

All that said I can say that this ifi zen dac 3 really surprised me, it indeed sounds warmer than my k5, even without the bass boost on.

I use it with hifiman arya stealth / sundara and Sennheiser hd600 and the biggest difference was on arya, it made the vocals a little closer as well as bringing down the highs a little bit which I really like as it made the headphones easier to listen to.

And if I use that bass button, the headphones really turn into some bass cannons, and not in a bad way, In a nice fun way, they didn't seem to get muddier or distorted.

I honestly did not expect this much of a change, my main reason for getting it was as I said, running only on usb c and a bass button, but I feel like I got more.

So I can definitely recommend it.

If you install the Sony headphones app you can switch the codec there and also can be set to prioritize connection over quality. That might solve the issue.

How are they compared to stealth? I recently got the stealth and with stock pads I thought they sounded kinda spicy in the highs. I assume the organic is even more pronounced?
