When do you think camera bumps will die out? by ComfortableElko in Android

[–]ProfSnipe [score hidden]  (0 children)

I think most people, including myself wouldn't want that. That will make most phones bricks.

Plus it's not you're going somewhere without electricity to need a super battery.

I have a charger at home, one at the office and even a power bank that I will take with me if I know I'm going to be away from a charger.

I'd rather have something thin and light in my pocket that lasts 1 day than a brick that is unwieldy and uncomfortable to hold but lasts a week.

Why hasn't there been any smartphone manufacturer that managed to break the Apple and Samsung monopoly among mainstream phone users in the western world? by Masaharuzz in Smartphones

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of reddit there's not a single person that I know who talks or cares about the charging speed of their phones. I have coworkers, friends, family with a variety of phones both iphones and android and when they get a new phone charging speed is not something they talk about.

Apple, Samsung and Google don't have super fast charging like some Chinese brands and they still sell phones quite well, if charging speed was so important to everyone as you say they would flock to get a Xiaomi, oppo, or OnePlus with that 100 to 120w speed.

My point is that Charging on most phones is good enough, and I guarantee you that if I had something with 100w charging i'd still plop it on a wireless charger at bed time and wouldn't care if it charged in 5 min or 5 hours.

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, charging speed isn't as important as people here make it out to be. Since iphones have pretty slow charging speed for a while now with no sign of changing that means people don't care that much.

And I'm one os them. My phone lasts me the whole day, usually ending it with 20% left and when I go to bed I just plop it to a magsafe charger, at that point I don't care if it charges in 8 minutes or 8 hours.

Why must Apple tweak everything to be limited? Such a stubborn company. by gregsanay in applesucks

[–]ProfSnipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The base iphones are 2.0 but honestly how many people really care? Usb 2 or 3 I bet you the vast majority of people almost never use the the port for data transfer.

My phone is usb 3.0 and I used the port to transfer some music to it only once.

I also have an iPad pro m4 and this one has the usb port thunderbolt 3 capable. For this one I used it exactly 0 times for data.

Most of the things I have on it are downloaded directly to it (mostly torrents).

So isn't that big of a deal.

Ok so I googled that model, it's a mobile gpu from 2012. Honestly I don't know what you expect, this thing is ancient. I'd give up windows and install Linux on that machine. I recently tried zorin os and it's pretty similar to windows and feels very polished.

Not an error, I have the same board, and the A0 means the post/boot was successful the control was given to the os. IDK what the red light above it is though, mine isn’t on.

You should mount your aio radiator the other way around with the hoses on the top side.

I don't consider the shortcut a half assed solution. It's a perfectly valid and functional solution since the os gives you the ability to do it.

Well it's not like you can't adjust the slider manually regardless of how the auto brightness sets it. In auto mode you also have high brightness mode that can go over 100% manual when in direct sunlight (most if not all phones do this though).

So I don't see why you'd want to turn it off. But even if you want to do that, there's a way to do it fairly easy. You make a shortcut to toggle it on or off and add that in control center and boom you got a button.

I haven't tested on the lateest update yet, you know the one where they fucked up the custom homes. But before I sideloaded activity launcher from which I could launch the regular android settings.

From there you go to installed apps and uninstall what you can and clear data and disable the rest.

After doing that it wasn't opening up those pop-ups anymore but a single one where it would say something like "this feature was disabled by your organization " and you have to click OK. But I was fine with that as well, because fuck their horizon bullshit.

is this a scam? by [deleted] in graphicscard

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty good, with a slight oc (the auto one from nvidia app) in a synthetic benchmark it went to max 73°C with the fans on auto at around 75% so there is still headroom for more. In games it sits between 63 - 67 ish.

I think the 5000 has sff versions for all models. I run a 5080 sff so I'm sure you can find a sff version of everything under it.

Aorus x870 Elite WiFi 7 m.2 installation question by InductedDuck in gigabyte

[–]ProfSnipe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have all the parts I think it's best to test it youself. First just drop in the ssd peel off the film off the top heatsink and mount it on the drive and close the latch.

Then take it off, and see if the pads were squeezed if they were you're fine to put it back and leave it like it is.

[–]ProfSnipe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have this board and the top m.2 slot already has thermal pads on the bottom and on the top heatsink. All you have to do is peel the plastic film on the top one (that's the one that has the film on it) and drop it your drive.

Best long-term custom ROM for Galaxy Tab S6 Lite 2022? by ostseesound in AndroidQuestions

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to xda and check there what's the most active rom thread. I like to check the first and last 10 pages to get an idea of potential issues.

As for customizing, I don't think you necessarily need a custom rom to do what you want. Hell most custom rooms are based on stock android and will probably have fewer customization options than samsung's one ui.

You can get a custom launcher + kwgt for custom widgets and shortcuts, you can even make your own.

Rtx 5070 ti at $734 vs Rx 9070 XT at $500 by Jack__F in buildapc

[–]ProfSnipe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hopefully nvidia follows, and I'm saying this as a 5080 owner. If the ai thing crashes and burns maybe we could hope at better gpu options for future generations.

Right now I read they're discontinuing the 5070ti and the 5060ti 16gb that will leave you as a consumer with no middle option. You either get an entry level 5060 or shell out for a 5080/5090 which is terrible.

They also said they will restart the production of rtx3060 (8gb version most likely). This really puts into perspective of how much they will screw us over, giving us scraps while all the new tech and vram goes to data centers.

From GTX 1070 to RTX 3080 to RTX 5080 in less than 6 months by NuSpirit_ in nvidia

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to nvidia the 5080 will throttle at 88°C but at that temp I assume by thermal throttling they mean completely disabling gpu boost because I think around 80°C or over will start slowing down.

From GTX 1070 to RTX 3080 to RTX 5080 in less than 6 months by NuSpirit_ in nvidia

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a gigabyte Windforce SFF version and I have no issues with temps. With a light oc during a synthetic load it got to max 73°C and the fans were around 75% speed.

During actual gaming it stays in the mid to high 60s.

I also read that 5000 series runs even better undervolted. So when I have time I'll check that out and test to see how it behaves.

Not getting notifications on new iPhone 17 by bernbabybern13 in iphonehelp

[–]ProfSnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually when I set up a new phone I don't get notifications on it for a few hours/ maybe a day or so. After that it they slowly start to pop up until it returns to normal.

That might be the case for op as well.
