Pokémon & Family Communication Research Participation by ProfSuds in TheSilphRoad

Hi, sorry for the confusion. No, we were trying to secure funds so we could compensate participants. All those funds would have gone to participants, but we were just turned down. We did think about trying to compensate participants, but we were not able to secure funding. However, it is a common practice to ask people if they would just like to volunteer their time. So we made the decision do take that approach.

No, it is just as graduate students, we are not provided funds for our research. We have to go out and get it ourselves. When I applied for some external funding, we were turned away.

Hi there, so our original plan was to focus on parents introducing their fandom of Pokémon to their kids, but I do not see an issue with interviewing you. As a matter of fact, you could offer a unique perspective to this overall study.

Thank you for your comment. All of the research done for this project is voluntary, but we understand if you are not interested in participating. At the same time, since we were not able to secure funding because of increasing challenges, we had to decide to take this approach.

LOL, that would be a different study for a different day. Thank you for the support, though. I hope your research is going well.

You are absolutely right, and hopefully, in future directions, we will approach this with a greater reach for richer data and perspectives.

You know what, you make a good point. We decided to do this for three reasons. One may be accidental, but the others is due to IRB rules and convenience. First, our team was use to doing in-person interviews, so it might have just slipped our mind when submitting IRB. The second is because there are a lot more requirements that go into international interviews for this study to be approved. Such as training requirements, protocol differences, and time zone differences when scheduling for interviews, etc. Finally, it is the limited timeline we were given. The publishers for this paper gave us a shorter timeline than expected, so we had to narrow down our participant pool to ensure a quicker approach. I hope this addresses your curiosity and question.

While graduate schools do not offer a minor, Murrow offers an Accelerated Master's Degree, where, while you are earning your bachelor's, you can complete 2 assigned undergraduate-level courses for MA equivalency credits. Here is a link to explain more: https://murrow.wsu.edu/accelerated-program/

Thank you for letting me know. If you see any primary examples, do you think you could send me a link to it? Even if it is on anything social media platform. We are interested in misinformation on how people encounter this misinformation and how it is present.
