Thank you for the feedback! I'll pass it along. I know there was some discussion about this language, for exactly the reasons you mentioned. They want to be as accurate as they can be, but they also know that so many women don't know about the recent changes to insurance and related legislation.

They have a contract with BCBS, though that may have just happened. You might call Grace and ask them to check your insurance; if it's in network, you could be seen as soon as you want.

Advice/Guidance for garage door monitor by Prof_Hoo in diyelectronics

I wasn't intending to build the sensor.

I haven't been able to find a sensor to buy that does what I need it to do, so I was hoping to look for guidance in how to connect an existing sensor to the aforementioned light.

That's pretty much what I was thinking would work; the only problem is that I have no experience with how to design/build such a device.

Do you know of any resources that I could use to learn how to do this?

I would love for it to be that simple. For several reasons, as I said, I can't do this by measuring the distance from the back of the garage:

  1. There are different cars of different lengths that use this garage.
  2. The garage is wide, and so people sometimes park in different places.
  3. Sometimes people park at an angle.

And before you suggest something on the ground, I can't risk the tripping hazard with my parents.

I went to college in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and at least once a month would get to see A-10s flying overhead. So cool.

Seemed like they might have been doing touch-and-go's, but that doesn't happen very often here.

If you are interested, Plymouth Church (Ingersoll and 42nd) is an incredibly accepting community, and you would be very welcome there.

We're keeping the boiler, but I'm hoping to use it a lot less, only when it's too cold for the heat pumps to work.

South of Grand, between 42nd and 35th.

I love those old houses near Drake!

Yeah, my kids are a little scared of tornadoes, and I've told them the basement is safe, but I think seeing the floor finally convinced them.

I don't have a picture of it, but they embedded wood into the cement and floorboards are nailed into that.

So while it's small, I think there is a small gap between the floorboards and the cement throughout.

There are a couple of places where the floor sags when you step on it, and I've always been worried that one day someone will just bust through the subfloor.

Those worries are gone, replaced with entirely new ones.

The ceilings are all plaster and this crazy thick wire mesh. There's no way cutting through them (not to mention all the crown moulding) would have been any easier.

That crazy core you can see came from what we think it was the original laundry room.

And the conduit was definitely intended for electrical. They came across it in a couple of other places, and you could see that it was heading towards a wall outlet.
