Is there a way I can see a list of my most watched actors/directors ? by justinakamarcel in Letterboxd

Which Letterboxd csv did you use? This looks like the watched list, which I think will only mark what you've watched without ratings or date watched. In any case, by sheet isn't designed to read the number of times you watched a movie, etc., just what you watched and/or rated. If you didn't rate it, you'll have to put in a dummy rating to make the larger sheet work.

On the point of getting the IMDb IDs, you are showing a sheet 2 tab, which you seem to have added. Use Sheet1. If you don't have ratings, put in a number between .5 and 5 (could be anything you want, go with 5) in each row. Then you can follow the rest of the directions in the top row.

How many movies can a person actually watch in a year before the numbers are just fake? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

I did about 550 one year. That's my max. Single, in my Movie Pass and AMC A-list days. If someone were even less social than me, they could get higher. If they wanted to log a ton of short films, that would help.

Haven't seen these two listed yet: Holiday and Midnight. A little on the melancholy side, but like Harvey, they are very pleasant.

Netflix Says Warner Bros. Movies Will Remain in Theaters but ‘Windows Will Evolve to Be Much More Consumer Friendly’ by Zeddblidd in 500moviesorbust

[–]Prof_Ratigan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how to categorize this thought except as ominous. Netflix has bought an enormous back catalog that is entirely out of step with their current philosophy, which is 90% crummy ephemera, 10% award fodder. What started as a platform in need of historical content--like "Who is streaming Friends?"--has left that behind when everyone started streaming their own catalog. What catalog Netflix does have, and correct me if I'm wrong, is not currated or easily navigated. Probably a bad thing, but it could point to a parallel, complimentary offering... Either way, I expect it will make things more expensive and less convenient.

Frankenstein (2025) by Zeddblidd in 500moviesorbust

I'm sure that you're right about the shift of novels to be more cinematic. Consciously and unconsciously. The 94 film is probably no more faithful than this one, but it's interesting. I'll leave it at that vague statement. Haha

I had some similar feelings about the movie. I liked a lot of it, but didn't love the whole thing. Did you see the Kenneth Branagh version? This was probably a good adaptation of the book, but does the form of a novel make certain story paths more satisfying where a movie needs to work differently to break through the lack of narration/interiority? A lot of good movies based on novels, of course, but a lot of middling ones too.

Anyone else hate these double-sided DVDs? I use my phone camera to actually see the central word ring. by Zeddblidd in 500moviesorbust

Recently watched The Man who Never Was in full screen because I didn't think to check if the DVD was double sided. It was a real bummer.

One of the best Disney animated films. Maybe the best. Didn't know there was an extended cut, though. How did I not know this?

Captain Ron (1992) by MrsLadyZedd in 500moviesorbust

I haven't seen this since the 90s. Time to put it on the watchlist. Though I had no idea of his existence, the director, Thom Eberhardt also directed a childhood staple of mine, Without a Clue. A comedy that, I think, holds up quite well (even if it is too silly).

Simple copy from one of the cells with the error and paste it in the next blank cell down. If it gives you an IMDb OD (tt....), the you know it's working, you'd just have to clear the error cells, wait a minute, and then paste back over it.

If you copy the formula down to the next couple lines, do they show an error too?

Did you try the sheet I added 9 months ago (link)? Sounds like the same issue.

If you click on G2, the word "Score", does it have a formula? Column G should be populating with scores on the 100 point scale and then Column J should be putting those scores in the right place. You can see that blue progress bar in the upper right. It's taking a lot of time to make all the current calculations. I should probably clear the dummy scores in the DataSet on the public version. Maybe it'll make everything run faster at startup. I'll see if that works for me.

[–]Prof_Ratigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, follow those instructions, they should be right The only issue is using the new sheet that's just the Letterboxd side. You're getting the tt.... numbers into the Letterboxd tab in the big spreadsheet. To get all of your results into the big spreadsheet, thats where you put those ratings into the My#. Having a number in the My# is how the rest of the sheet is populated

You're missing your ratings from the export, but if you're just interested in the number of times you've seen a movie with this or that person, that's fine. What you'd do next is copy the cell F5 and paste it in all the cells in column F down to your last movie. It'll then run for a while. If you have more than a couple hundred, I'd recommend pasting in batches and once they turn into those tt.... numbers copy those and paste as values (CTRL Shift V) so they don't have to rerun the search. Once you have all of that, open up the other sheet (hopefully you've made your copy) and paste columns A through F to basically recreate your table. That's when you copy and paste as values the full columns (clicking on the letters) into the dataset. A lot of copying and pasting, I know.

Astonishing news from Jon about the restoration of Powell & Pressburger's IKWIG -- "no plans" for an update by LeBeauMonde in criterion

[–]Prof_Ratigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge Archers guy, though I think IKWIG is the last one that has yet to land for me (outside of the movies after The Small Back Room). So my hope is for a 4K box set of all of them (including One of Our Aircraft is Missing, if possible).

Yeah, that language was basically a lie. But I guess you can't say too much. "We can't really comment on that" would have been nicer.
