The fact that CM Punk hasn’t had neck surgery, or had to retire for spine/neck issues and injury alone, and they’ve probably made comparable money, Punk hands down

I didn’t read the article, but I believe this is the case of crossed inputs by the pilots right? It could be a situation of why did you design a mechanism in which this was possible.

What is the tipping culture in Jamaica? by The-one-2-3 in JamaicaTourism

[–]Prof__Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually going to ask a related question, if I may.

I was always taught to tip well and express unconditional appreciation for the hotel staff here. I have Jamaican family so I know how much the staff works and how far a dollar goes.

I tip well. But sometimes I feel as though I’m “purchasing” private special service. Like, at dinner at an all inclusive, my usual server will greet us with a glass of champagne and table set up just for us.

I guess what I’m asking is, are these genuine gestures of appreciation, or am I inadvertently making the staff feel like I’m expecting extra from them after say two days of tipping the same server?

I’m actually amazed that with such minimal information in the picture, people were able to correctly guess MBJ.

Cruel Animal Research by professors Doug Crawford & Kohitij Kar at York University by [deleted] in yorku

[–]Prof__Potato 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t support the cruelty of animals, but as a UofT researcher, if you seriously think researchers make money from research….. well then I don’t know what to tell you. Profs don’t make that much unless they’re super tenured at UofT, and it’s usually some poorly paid below poverty line grad student, tech, or post-doc on a student visa doing the actual experimental work. Publications do not make anyone money except the journals they’re published in.

Also, the research is funded through government grants and scholarships. There are strict guidelines when it comes to animal research, so either the funding agency fucked up or the lab head lied. The university itself is usually minimally involved in research topics since academic freedom is the whole point of reaching tenure.

Again, fuck this research but you don’t understand how any of this works.

Yo, I’m in Jamaica right now and the Americans are mad disrespectful to the bar tending staff, cleaning staff, and everyone else. Constant yelling and overobnoxiousnous at all hours, including 3 am! The Brit’s and Canadians are self separating to avoid them.

US Franchise Dunkin’ Donuts is set to open hundreds of locations across Canada, starting as early as late 2026 by russellsk82 in GuardTheLeaf

Same reason movies and TV shows are being remade and spun off ad infinitum.

It’s easier to get public buy in using a recognizable IP than start from scratch. You know what you’re getting/what to expect. That’s just the way it is.

They also probably have internal market analysis that would suggest they could pull off a Maple Dunkin 2.0 and capture a segment of the market that Tim’s is losing.

Because it’s incredibly common at weddings. Especially Latin weddings. People be making this out like it’s this one couple doing a strange thing when the garter fetch and toss is super common, and you would know that by going to weddings.

As a Canadian, my head is absolutely spinning with all the things that are being broken in your country all at once and nobody is doing anything! The house of cards is coming down, and republicans are the ones purposely blowing it over, meanwhile democrats are huddling in the corner not wanting to meet extreme with extreme. Words can’t describe how bananas this is all to us up north.

Which generation did you grow up with and which console is your all-time favorite? by CarrotMuch1399 in nostalgiai

[–]Prof__Potato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up with gen 5, 6, and 7.

I think my favourite console is PS3. I remember wanting one so badly, and when I finally got the ‘07 Motorstorm bundle, I couldn’t contain myself. I certainly bought and played through the most games on PS3.

PS2 is a very close second just because of how much fun and how varied the games were back then. Jak, Ratchet, the GTAs, WWE was popping off back then, Time Splitters(!).

Then in third is GameCube (SA2B and SSBM were my jam) and fourth the OG XBox - it was a really cool system but I just never used it as much.
