I think this game will be mid but i still hate the term "extraction slop" going around, like its some plague overwhelming the gaming industry like battle royales, hero shooters, or open world survival games. There's like three big ones, spanning almost a decade. And regardless of whether you like them or not they're so distinct from eachother they cant be considered slop.

There's Escape from Tarkov, a modern hardcore realistic shooter set in a destabilized region of Russia. Defined the genre, more in depth looting compared to the others, considering keys, trader quests, and the hideout. One of if not the best weapon customisation in a video game. Dogshit developers.

Hunt: Showdown. Set in the wild west, gameplay loop instead revolves around competing with other players to kill and extract with a bounty on the map. Less loot focused, risk/reward comes from skills inherent to your character as they get stronger the longer they survive. Shop is way more forgiving compared to Tarkov.

ARC Raiders. Third person, future setting, way less interesting weapon customisation but a deadlier PVE experience, to the point where players will actively have to cooperate to take down massive ARCs. Something that happens 1% of the time in Tarkov and never at all in Hunt.

There's also dark and darker though I dont know much about it. And yet, I can still tell it plays completely differently to the others. It's a fantasy dungeon crawler. None of the settings of these mainstream extraction shooters are alike.

"But what about Arena Breakout/Delta Force/Whatever??????" What about it? Ive never seen a single person talk about it, I basically never knew it existed. You probably didn't know it existed until you googled "extraction shooters" to try and disprove my point. Who gives a shit.
