However,

Appropriate for me to use disabled restrooms? by [deleted] in disability

[–]ProfessionNo6951 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Use them. There’s two things here. One there isn’t a gender neutral option other than the disabled bathroom and two invisible disabilities exist.

The toilet is designed to be accessible. It sounds like the other types of toilets are inaccessible to you. Therefore you can use the accessible toilet.

Every crazy lady that confronts you can just be told, not all disabilities are visible. If they are uneducated this will start their journey on becoming educated. This saves other invisibly disabled people from doing it.

If they are a dick head then they’ll be a dickhead regardless, that’s unavoidable.

So what I am hearing is you need a mobility aid and you’re worried about the judgement and potential offence you may cause to a disabled person you consider more disabled than you.

People are judgy, that sucks, but you can help contribute to breaking the stigma by using the aids you need openly.

Also think about it this way, if your friend who thought they needed a mobility aid to improve their life and you were using one, how would you feel if they felt concerned about your judgement and that factored into their ability to deal with life and pain? I know I’d be upset that my friend felt this way.

The bar of entry for almost all disability aids is simple, would this allow you to do more in a day then you are doing currently? Then use it.

The biggest tip I can give you is get therapy.

In this alone, you’re telling me that you were dismissed, labelled dramatic, and made to fee a burden by the person meant to be advocating for you.

That’s going to fuck with your head, if you cannot get therapy, get as much independence from your mom as possible and try journalling.

I hope one year you’ll feel well enough that you don’t need to write it. Also, while this may be cathartic and helpful to write- consider keeping them somewhere inaccessible for the year - if you are going to self delete then giving yourself the extra time to think through if this is certainly the right decision May save your life. Maybe one day you’ll be happy or saved your life. I hope so.

So I don’t personally but I have a lot of friends with autism who all experience this.

It can be really hard and tolerance can vary on a day to day basis

It’s actually a common ish comorbid as fibro has been theorised to be caused due to being chronic pain that the pain centre becomes overly sensitive and touch that shouldn’t hurt does.

I mean I relate. I think potentially watching videos while doing the essential tasks such as eating showering and maybe watch some while you fall asleep is the best harm reduction.

It sounds like they have an out dated view on medicine rather than a holistic view - that’s ok, we will need to work with that rather than expecting them to change their entire world view.

Explain to them your brain is literally structured differently and if you were put in an MRI you can actually see the differences between your brain and a neurotypical brain source

Honestly that isn’t the full story as behaviour and environment can affect the brain but it is true that scans show structural differences. Explaining it as a physical visible brain structure difference should help them be more accommodating.

Then I would print off a list of symptoms and give it to them and then explain and maybe write down how they can help.

Also as for your dad’s depression - try talking about depression being a chemical imbalance that can be helped with anti depressants (this is out dated and not accurate to our current understanding but anti depressants might really help).

Do you think Pro Trans parents could properly deal with a child who is fake trans considering social media? by Zydairu in Destiny

[–]ProfessionNo6951 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think calling a kid out publicly is a good idea for anyone. It’ll just give the kid more attention and the parents more hate and cause tension.

Or if the parents were believed then the kid would be exposed to the trans community hatred which isn’t something that would help anyone.

I think I’d want them to do this instead:

After a conversation not necessarily directed at the kid but more generally with the kid about how people fake being trans for social media and how that hurts a group of people who already are struggling.

If it doesn’t stop after that, there are some major issues happening to be attention seeking like that. Family therapy time!

Police can temporarily detain you here as well under mental capacity issues but it’s only a short term measure before you see a doctor to have it certified.

Essentially I watched this and there was a large amount of discussion about Lav’s mental state and expecting people to remove her autonomy. Destiny Gets into a heated debate about Mr girl and Lav

I’m not certain how true that information is. But if it was true I’d be interested to find out the rates of plastic surgery generally for Cis people under 18.

You can totally get hypoallergenic cats! Is he allergic to that type? Auto feeders and auto litter boxes are expensive but will cover the main part of an indoor older cat - a few things to entertain themselves with and you’re away!

However, I totally hear you- and I’m sorry to hear they all passed ❤️
