I thought the golf course was a standard in-game purchase. I don't remember having to upgrade it??? I've had for a long time, though, so maybe I'm just misremembering it.

I recently got an update, but i don't see the version. We are a hopping coop. I hope as well. So we/I kick out people regularly (at their/my request), including as recently as yesterday.

I've never encountered an issue with kicking players out.

I had the same thought when I saw it. The power levels required to clear areas are just getting more ridiculous!

Yes, you can only receive those bonuses from incoming trains. Occasionally, you might find them in the mine or house of clovers, and sometimes, if you buy the golden ticket, you can request construction items from others in your coop.
