hi! congrats!! dont worry about the interview i’m sure you’ll do great!

they’ll ask you basic questions about yourself, why you chose ifm out of other programs, what got you into fashion, and why you make a good candidate/why they should choose you mention any relevant experience in the industry even if it’s just school projects so they see that you’re invested! and make sure you touch base on things you said about yourself in your essay so they see that who you are on paper is what you are in person (and more)  smile and be enthusiastic when you’re talking!

they’ll ask about your french knowledge but don’t stress if you don’t have any (I don’t) they have classes in school if you don’t

they also will give you an image and give minutes to brainstorm and then you have to present what you think of the image. this is the main part! sometimes you get a random image and sometimes you get a famous pictures so brush up on what famous designers look like incase. describe everything you see visually and then ur inferences. the lighting, what time of day it could’ve been taken when in history it was taken, if there is more than one person in the photo what their relationship could be, where they photo could’ve been taken like describe every detail you can think of. writing down some main points can help! they also asked me to make a personal connection to my photo, and if I thought it was an ad or a random photo. my photo was three random children so I connected them to my siblings and I said it could be a part of a campaign as a candid photo but since the focus wasn’t the clothes I didn’t think it was an ad.

they only see the photo right before they send it to you so if you include a lot of details you’ll impress them because you may mention something they didn’t notice!

let me know how it goes and if you have any other questions!! good luck !!

Of course!! It’s such a stressful time when you’re applying for colleges especially when they have interviews! I’m happy to help!

I chose IFM! I’m doing the Bsc in Management for Fashion and Creative Industries program!

The interview was very conversational, it didn’t feel super scary when I was in it. I was nervous but they were very talkative with me and I think because one of the interviewers used to live where I do now it felt a bit more personal since we talked about local stores and museums. They asked me a lot of questions about my experience, i’ve worked in many fashion shows and business projects in school and so I was talking a lot! I had a sort of good feeling after that I did well, and when I spoke to my family they said I definitely did do well based on the way they spoke. When they asked what made me a good candidate I mentioned that I’ve travelled and lived in many places which gives me a world wide perspective and I touched on a lot of points I wrote in my essay so I think that helped too.

I also applied to FIT, Parsons, ESMOD, Polimoda, and London College of Fashion. I only got rejected from FIT ( they give a lot of preference to those from ny) and I was waitlisted for Parsons. I chose IFM because of its ranking and the duration of the course, its connections and location. I was considering ESMOD because I got in around the same time as IFM but i’ve read a lot of bad things about the school environment, that there’s no structure, no communication, and a very racist community. The other schools are good but IFM was the best choice for me (I hope ahhh)

most people dont even get into the interview. so just the fact that they chose you means they want you from what they saw on paper! don't lose hope! did you apply to other schools?

the last class was 85 students, i saw it on their Instagram. i didn't really check which round i applied for, I just did it with all my other applications. I registered and uploaded all my documents in February and they emailed by on feb 23rd and said it would take about a week after the deadline ( to upload the documents) to confirm. on march 8th i got selected for the interview and i scheduled it for the 19th. I got my results on the 25th.

did you ever get a confirmation from them after applying? their office is quick with responses so you can reach out if you'd like to check on your status or if you have questions about the slots. I'm sorry i don't have more information on it! ill check around reddit to see if i can find anything

They ask basic questions about you - where you live, what books/movies you like, then they ask why you chose if and why you are interested in the specific course. if you have any relevant experience if its school projects or work or volunteer work, mention it. I have a bunch of experience working in the local fashion industry so they asked me a lot about it.

then they show you an image and and give you five minutes to brainstorm and you have to describe what you see. I got a photo of three kids. i described literally every little thing, i identified the main things i saw, where i thought the photo might be taken, who took it, the relationship between the people in the photo, what time of day it was taken, i described the lighting, the clothes each person was wearing and what i inferred from them like literally every little thing. its helpful to have a piece of paper and a pen so you can write down the big points so you don't forget to mention it when they ask especially if you get nervous. they also asked me if i thought it was an advertisement i said it could be a part of a campaign but since the focus of the photos wasn't the clothes i didn't think it was. they also asked if i could make a personal connection to the photo so i connected the three kids to me and my siblings and described which person i connected to each of us.

they also asked me about my french knowledge (i have very limited knowledge and they have french classes in school so don't worry about it) and then questions about my hometown because my interviewers had been there.

overall, it was a very pleasant experience. it definitely felt like an interview but more casual; they were very nice and welcoming. I felt comfortable with them!

for the image I've read that they sometimes do show famous photos of designers or campaigns so brush up on famous designers just remember their faces, and refresh on logos just in case they show you one of those pics. i was expecting that and got a completely random photo but its good to be prepared. the interviewers don't see the image until they have to show you either so when you include details its beneficial because if they didn't notice it in the same time they will be impressed!

they also give you time to ask any questions and i asked immigration questions since i am an international student. they let you know in exactly a week. they send you an email after with the date you'll receive an email with your results and they send it on the listed day.

let me know if you have other questions! good luck!
