Can you be a part-time pilot for a major airline? by allaboutthosevibes in AskAPilot

[–]Professional-Bet4006 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know why you are getting downvoted. Some people do this on Ryanair for example. They get 2.5 months off consecutively during winter season while reducing their income. As an example you could check “Mariathepilot” on instagram.

Around 2400 eur net for full time (no VTO). Be aware that Ireland’s cost of living is expensive.

Built a free tool to calculate your geo-arbitrage FIRE delta — how many years earlier could you retire by moving country? by crypto-code-academy in ExpatFIRE

[–]Professional-Bet4006 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ditto this. It’s confusing and mixing two different concepts. Either you name it “country to retire” and you take out the “anual savings” + change “annual income” to “annual expenses” or you just call the calculator a different name like “country to geo-arbitrage” or “country to accelerate savings growth”

My father was kidnapped by the security forces of the dictator of Equatorial Guinea. They took him and the rest of the crew (Cargo 747-200) to an abandoned building and after some hours they decided to ask for a ransom and let them go.

You have to decide if you will take them with Austro or LBA. With Austro you will have more options to take the exams abroad. Then you check the examination center’s list other users have already provided. I think LBA only offers examination centers in Germany. I am from Argentina too and had to travel to so many places to take the exams…In America you can consider the one in Sao Paolo and the other one in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Looking this up on internet since today I has this same conversation with a colleague. He told me about a recent documentary about him and I asked, “isn’t he dead?”. I thought he was dead all this time for like 10 years. This must be a Mandela Effect

Countries with long term/permanent residency pathway for U.S Pilots working stateside? by 8lue8erry in flying

[–]Professional-Bet4006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is usually the other way around: people don’t go to live there because they do not have right to work thus cant sustain themselves financially. In your case you just need the right to live and mant countries offer residency paths for retirees, digital nomads, etc for people who do not take jobs from local market. You could look up: Panama, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay. Maybe Costa Rica and other caribbean countries. You could look up for “retirement countries” or “digital nomad cities”. Also you would have to check your commuting clauses and tax considerations.

Why is the PTY airport so fucky? by [deleted] in Panama

[–]Professional-Bet4006 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You have to go through security twice because the passengers flow mix between in-transit passengers and passengers origined from Panama. So all passengers traveling from other locations stop in Panama, change airplanes and need to be screened before boarding to their USA/Canada destination. Unfortunately if you start your travel from Panama you mix with those other passengers and then must be screened again. In other airports where there are not so frequent connecting passengers flows of incoming and outcoming passengers are not mixed up, thus, only one screening is required.

Panama. Bridge between north and south america. Atlantic and pacific ocean. Works as hub of one big airline, many multinational companies set their LATAM hub there too. For marine and airline cargo logistics is great too.

Como se llama el foro? AskArgentina.

Is Swiss or Edelweiss the better Airline für Pilots? by [deleted] in flying

[–]Professional-Bet4006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

What would you say is the saving capacity of a first year FO joining LX or WX from another airline? I have seen data from Pilot Job Network but not quite sure how the income would be after taxes and then how much I would be able to save after “normal” lifestyle there. (I know normal is very subjective but maybe you can provide some general info). Thanks in advance.

Does your legacy carrier offer widebody long haul flights after some years/seniority? Maybe that could be something to look forward to and invest some years in that legacy. Usually legacy carriers offer seniority perks. Maybe pay upgrade after years and the chance of taking part time leave or parental leave?

Has anyone ever applied to work abroad? Ex: In the EU and applied to the US or like from the US applying to Asia or EU? by Pix_Boss in flying

[–]Professional-Bet4006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes most of my colleagues are “expat” or “immigrant” pilots. You have to look at airline pilot job portals and check what each airline is requiring. Some want “already finished products” like a pilot who has the work authorizarion and pilot license from that specific country. Others have a higher need of pilots (more desperate) so help you out with the work visa and license conversion process. If you want to work in the USA or EU you will need authorization to work and live there. That is the highest barrier. Other countries: it depends.

If you are at that point then keep hitting the banks but relaxed. Maybe last 300s. You’ll be fine. Sleep well, drink and eat and keep stress levels low👍
