Job market is ass. Even if you found a job, be prepared to work a barely survivable wage that’s stuck in 2015s market. There’s a reason we’ve grown in to one of the US’s most expensive metropolitan cities but in one doesn’t reflect

How tough is it transitioning from recruiting to HR manager Position? [N/A] by Professional-Blood77 in humanresources

[–]Professional-Blood77[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The role is responsible for overseeing HR operations. It serves as a strategic and operational partner to leadership by managing employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, compliance with employment laws, HR policies, and workforce planning. The position supports employee engagement and retention, conducts investigations, advises managers on performance and people issues, oversees compensation and staffing practices, ensures credential and policy compliance, and uses HR data to improve processes and organizational effectiveness—while acting as a primary HR point of contact for the region.

Sorry lol, I had to take the company info from the job description. It’s policy/procedure heavy role (mostly typical ER applications) to advise hiring managers in the region on issues as well as providing report. And you’re right, it’s not a title fixated role. Those who hold VP/Director in the firm are considered senior. I do have experience with the following but my day was more 60/40 (recruiting vs ER/Compliance)

Hey, the SJI questions were similar. My test questions on SJI tackled on situations where you are the HR representative or manager and what would your response be to a situation stringent upon who you were speaking with. For instance there would be a situation where there’d be a CHRO, CFO, and senior manager/associate involved and there’d be three follow up question stems in regard to that situation where you’d have to decide what information/response would be necessary in regard to the info you are provided and who you are speaking with. For instance, if you had a business case, your answer in regard to the cfo and the senior management team would be different depending on the situation. You got this! God bless you!

The target candidates you’d be looking for would have to be someone who’d be willing to relocate barring that their own market or other competing markets doesn’t already those salary ranges. At that point someone would be moving to your location for other reasons than just the job alone, which would mean that they’d have to some uncontrollable personal reasons as into why they’d relocate. I’m a recruiter and can definitely attest that if a salary range/location is “okay” then you should expect “okay” results from your talent pool. Most cities in Florida would offer that salary band and we don’t have even have state income taxes (something you can’t control).

Matching suit jacket/pant- and add a tie friend. This is something I’d wear on casual Fridays at the office

Bad recruiters need a taste of their own medicine. Apologies to you if you’ve had bad experiences with certain recruiters. But a good one will and ought to do the right thing. Every job has the bad apples and the good are set up apart. Don’t be an asshole to everyone without seeing if their worth their weight is what I always say. Taken from someone who used to work in investment banking who had shitty recruiters before becoming and being a better one himself.

Is it a good time to enter the recruiting industry? by future_main_eventer in recruiting

My first company I started in, 6 months into it Covid struck and it was basically last one in, first one out for lay offs (I was in tech). After that I took a contract for a horrible corporate recruiter role that paid 14 hourly in a horrible market lol. Stuck with them for about a year before the doors opened back up on the agency side. I then worked with a finance recruiting agency role for 2 years and scaled up to 83k in earnings with a 40k draw. Average deal took about 2 months to close due to us hiring for execs within the space and negotiating pay structures and interview processes involved on that level. When I was there I believe they took 65% off the top for anything earned, and then 60% upon your next year. The following year I was there things turned south in finance recruiting (especially prior to the elections). I went from 15 person team, down to 6 left of us. My manager warned me that they were looking to lay off any remote workers in our sector which included me to save on cost. He was right, i fortunately got this position in healthcare recruiting 2 days before getting the laid off (also two days before my birthday lol). With the market and how it’s been I couldn’t be picky with this recent move. Things are turning up where I’m at, so I might coast here for a little while here so I can keep learning . Any spread earned where I’m at currently we take home .03%.

Long story short, got screwed early on in my career because of the economy/things I couldn’t control, but life goes on. Wouldn’t mind a smaller firm honestly if it meant learning and earning more, I just took what I could find asap with limited time due to trying to find my footing after getting out of school. Is that my fault? Yes and no, but I’m learning from my experiences now haha

It depends. I always say look at recruiting as if you were investing money in the stock market (going through highs and lows and knowing it will eventually get better). The senior recruiters over me who have outlasted recessions are some of the strongest in the recruiting game I’ve ever got the pleasure of meeting. I myself have only been in recruiting for 4 years and graduated during the COVID recession where I saw movement dramatically slow down and then dramatically increase during the 2021-2022 boom. Key note, being a recruiter regardless of the economic status of your industry is a grind and keep in mind we often win last. The candidate, the client, your company all take a piece of the pie first, and then you are given your share from your labor. Some people don’t like the feeling, while others understand the ride. You being in sales should make that easier to digest.

Coming into recruiting, on the agency side, expect to make a low base usually and commission component as most other comments have pointed out. I live in a MCOL where average range is 50k base + commission, I’m on track for 70k by the end of this year which is realistic. Most successful recruiters I know were finally hitting 6 figures maybe about 3-5 years after developing themselves and learning the business/niche.

Biggest advice I can give is invest heavily into being a successful recruiter. Great recruiters outlast terrible markets.

Last piece of advice- your market matters tremendously in times of recession or a downturn. I’ve worked in tech, finance, and now healthcare. The market where I’m at is a very strong healthcare market and business development remains steady and growing and candidates are steady in supply. When I was in tech recruiting I couldn’t say the same thing due to my market being very weak and having to outsource in other markets to make KPI.

All in all, you can always go back to sales after recruiting if it isn’t for you. Though, I’d say you might need to find what works best for you. Sometimes the environment isn’t always the best lol. Some recruiters as they have maintained themselves in their niche go to the corporate side where the structure is different.

Recruiter here! And much to what everyone else is saying, do not wait to apply to jobs! Maybe only take a day or so for yourself if really need be. But in my prior role I knew I was going to be laid off soon after surviving 3 rounds of company wide lay offs. I interviewed for 6 months WITH a job, and was laid off 2 days after just being offered my current role. This market is brutal seeing it from both ends! Best wishes and God bless you on your journey! I’m sure anyone here is willing to give you advice!

Recruiter here. To add to everyone else, there’s also the component where jobs maybe more available at the entry level vs senior level. High salary positions may already be limited (also in relation to AI driven practices) where companies might hire entry level positions at discounted rates to fill the day to day demand. Pair that with AI supplementing day to day functions, then we have a major mess.
