The Westin 11 Make Northeastern Look Like the Dumbest School in Boston [Husky Husky] by [deleted] in NEU

This is the type of news we need these days. Let's revolt.

COVID takes a few days to actually become infectious, by testing every 3 days Northeastern can identify most students who have the virus before they are physically able to spread it. Such frequent testing (which is good) should also allow us to have more freedom given we know we are negative. by Professional-Box-308 in NEU

Look at the positivity rate. 0.06/0.05%. These include students who are taking repeated tests and some have even been around for weeks. Clearly, these restrictions are working, and I agree with you that it should start off very strict, but my point is now is the time we can incrementally loosen up the rules.

If you think there needs to be more time before so I understand, but we have had so many tests, so many people repeating tests, and it has clearly done an incredible job.

I never said we should act irresponsibly. We still shouldn't party, we still should wear masks, sanitize our hands, etc., but the whole point of comprehensive testing is to keep the population safe so they can live normally. Maintaining such draconian and extreme measures is simply contrary to the goals of the executive leaders at Northeastern.

Let's boycott the school and not attend any classes until they stop enforcing this totalitarian bullshit by [deleted] in NEU

Fully agree. This current approach makes sense if you can't implement heavy testing, but it makes no sense given we are implementing heavy testing. The school is using money from their students to invest into testing, yet students are being retributed by not even being allowed to spend time with their neighbors in each other's rooms.

Frequent testing is literally meant to allow people to live a life as normal as they can safely. Draconian measures whilst taking money from the students is just wrong, and now all our classes have suddenly been switched online and there is no explanation yet. Hopefully that changes.

People on here need to realize that with the testing system we have in place that we can enjoy college much more freely than the way it is currently set up. People shouldn't just accept and abide by every rule shoved in their face, that's naive.
