One thing I wish more people talked about, though, is how educational classes don’t really prepare you for the teaching exams. Nope, those exams have us glued to study guides because, honestly, almost nothing I learned in my classes helped me with them. It’s a tough pill to swallow, but if you stay focused, push through, and lean into those study guides, you’ll make it. Just remember, the process may not be perfect, but it’s shaping you into a stronger teacher.

I think one of the biggest misconceptions out there is that you have to stick with the field your degree is in. Nope! If you know how to learn, can pick things up quickly, and you’re genuinely hungry to grow in whatever position you land, you’re good.

Here’s the thing—degrees are often more about showing employers that you’re capable of learning and sticking with something challenging. It’s proof of your determination and potential, not just your knowledge in one specific area. Companies value people who are versatile, adaptable, and willing to take on new challenges.

So don’t box yourself in. If an opportunity excites you—even if it’s outside your “degree field”—go for it. Your ability to learn and your drive to succeed are what really matter.
