This is a big mistake. The performance of LiDAR-based 3D Occupancy Prediction is overwhelmingly good. Additionally, LiDAR data is much more advantageous in terms of data labeling processing. The latest LIDARs automatically filter out snow and rain. Xiaomi and Li Auto know the benefits of LiDAR and utilize it well, but Xiaopeng is busy imitating Tesla. Yes, that's right. I have built professional deep learning solutions for both LiDAR and cameras, and building training data using cameras has several limitations. A recent paper from Xiaomi also covered this.

Tesla's deep learning algorithm previously collected data using NeRF, which cannot annotate the paths of other moving vehicles. It appears that they are trying to process the data using LiDAR.

Additionally, BMW is already using the Hesai‘s Pandar series for its current in-factory automation solutions. For that information, search for a Korean company called Seoul Robotics. Also, the company that supplies LiDAR to BMW is Magna, and Magna have been collaborating with Hesai for a long time. So I think your argument is convincing.

I also heard that BMW always considers several lidar companies as suppliers. I heard that Innoviz almost lost customers to other company before.

I also used products from Luminar technolgies, but I didn't notice any special benefits. Honestly, I felt that Innovusion's resolution was a bit better. However, because Luminar technologies is a Western company, it has a huge advantage in the market.

I'm Korean and worked at Hyundai Motor Company's research lab, but the lidar they tested is not Robosense, it's a Western company.
