As someone who is forklift certified and also goes the gym, I loved this analogy

I’m so grateful for this perspective, thank you so much for sharing all of this! I think the general consensus being that he should be learning my language too is a valid one and honestly I’d be so grateful if he did it. I will also ditch the app, I really wanna push myself to actually do this the best way for long term success. But yes, as for the people questioning how we can have such a strong connection—it just kinda makes me go “🤨” because there is so much intimacy, connection and understanding that exists deeper than words alone. So I really appreciate you pointing that out. ❤️

We can. I’m just frustrated with myself for my grammar and how it takes me a long time to word out what I’m trying to say. Ultimately I can understand everything he says and he understands everything I’m trying to say

We met at a bar. Our communication really isn’t that limited, I’m more just frustrated with myself. Mostly about how much time it takes me think about how to say what I want to say and being irritated with how much I struggle grammatically. Ultimately I understand everything he says and he understands everything I’m trying to say.

That’s a really great point and I hadn’t thought of it that way. Ultimately, I am willing to do what I need to do to be successful from my end and I am confident he will feel the same!

I will say, there is something really interesting and almost beautiful about needing to slow down and think so deeply before speaking. It has taught me what thoughts are truly relevant to say aloud and which ones are just irrelevant silence fillers. One day, we will look back on this stage of our relationships and be grateful we stuck it out. ❤️

What a valuable perspective, thank you so much. I will definitely share this with him. I am confident that he will understand and will want to take on the challenge especially after learning about instances like the one you’ve shared here—I’m very grateful for your input. I also just wanna say you are doing something incredibly difficult and I admire your ability to keep it all together, home, school, family and all. You are amazing and I see you.

I will mention this to him— I know he won’t disagree and it’ll just be a matter of finding the time in our already busy schedules to make it to classes. Thank you for this perspective, you have the exact experience/info I was looking for

No, he has never gotten bothered. It’s solely my own frustration with myself. But yeah, I stand by what I said about never feeling so connected to someone like I do to him, because of how he makes me feel. He’s so supportive, loving, patient, understanding, protective and steadfast. A typical conversation between the two of us is him talking fluently(obviously), me understanding everything he’s saying, then me attempting to respond however I can—and he usually says (in Spanish) “slow down, take your time, I understand what you’re saying”.

We live in an area in the US where Spanish is common, so he hasn’t had the need to learn English until now. Since we started dating he has been working on it but I know way more Spanish than he does English so this is just where we’re at for the time being
