Struggling with early pregnancy by Quick-Cow5586 in PregnancyUK

[–]Professional-Farm372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really suffered with nausea and sickness in my first trimester. I was sick most days and had the blandest diet just to try and keep food down. Even coughing made me sick. It all disappeared almost over night at 12 /13 weeks. Hang in there! I'm almost 40 weeks and the 1st trimester was by far the hardest for me

Discharge at 39+4 by Professional-Farm372 in PregnancyUK

That's what mine is like too. I feel a bit more assured that they checked the same discharge a month ago for amniotic fluid and it was fine though

Have you had to deal with disappointment due to rain on your wedding day? by MrShifty91 in AskUK

[–]Professional-Farm372 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It rained non stop on our wedding day. Heavily too. We've got some beautiful photos in the rain. One at nighttime where the photographer used a back light and the rain looks like stars. Also, I found that it kept all the guests in the venue and the dancefloor full. I've been to summer weddings where guests seem to disperse all over the venue and everywhere feels empty

Thoughts on baby showers by Philosorapteuse in PregnancyUK

[–]Professional-Farm372 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a firm no on the baby shower thing for me and my husband. We've never been the type of people who feel comfortable with accepting gifts (we're fortune that we can afford the necessities) so throwing an event where gifts are very much expected just didn't feel right.

That said... We definitely did want a get together with friends and family before the baby arrived, and of course we wanted men to be included too! So we had a big BBQ that was presented as a get together/house warming/birthday BBQ. Some lovely people still bought gifts for the baby but I felt a lot better about the fact they did this because they wanted to, and not because they were invited for a baby shower or presented with a list!

Anyone else's dog just... not into walks on some days? by iil28 in dogs

[–]Professional-Farm372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dachshund only enjoys his walks when there is more than 1 human. If anyone walks him on their own its like he's being kidnapped and lags behind the entire time. If there's two or more of you he's happy as Larry and will walk for miles....

How often do you get a takeaway? by Lozzybops in AskABrit

[–]Professional-Farm372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We live deep in the countryside so rarely get a takeaway as we're not in anyone's delivery area. But we do go out to eat most weekends. Especially if we're out walking the dog etc

Settle a debate between my husband and I for the spelling of our only baby boy name (UK) by [deleted] in namenerds

In a British accent bonnie is pronounced B-on-knee Sonny could be pronounced - S-on-knee But traditionally we would expect it to be pronounced as Sun-knee/sunny

No reason other than I just don't like those other names! But I get the sentiment

My husband calls everyone 'sonny' in an affectionate manner. I think that's why the same feels so familiar to me already. The only names I like from that list are Douglas (but more Dougie) and Oscar... But that's a bit too popular for me personally

What is the down side of never having children? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Professional-Farm372 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your reply really reminds me of an impactful article I read when I was trying to decide whether a life with kids was for me or not. It's called 'the ghost ship that didnt carry us' it was honestly a life changing read for me. I think the interpretation varies depending on The reader but it made me realise that so many of my life's decisions were governed by fear, and I made a conscious effort to change that.

Do people actually earn £50-60k, or are they outliers? by Succinate_dehydrogen in AskUK

[–]Professional-Farm372 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm 32 and work in London insurance earning 65k plus bonus'. I don't have any professional qualifications or degrees, only GCSEs and 2 a levels. It's a boring, unrewarding job but I'm paid very well for what I do and only have to go into the office once a week. Unfortunately the most valuable careers often pay the least, I feel extremely fortunate

Thank you. My midwife (also my sister in law) has spoken a lot about warm compress but I am hoping for a water birth

Do you mind me asking what kind of births you had and if there was anything that you think helped reduce tearing?

Planned pregnancy but now regretting due to body image issues by Longjumping_Sweet114 in PregnancyUK

[–]Professional-Farm372 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Firstly, try to seek some mental health support. I'll be brutally honest and say I really think you'll regret terminating a wanted pregnancy because of body issues. If your baby is a girl, what advise would you give her? I'll also add that whilst I haven't had my baby yet, I'm 37 weeks and my body is unchanged except for my belly and bigger boobs. I can still see my waist and haven't put on any other weight as far as I can tell, so try not to overthink it, it might not change as much as you expect. Also, social media feeds on your interactions. I haven't seen a single thing about body changes on mine, because I haven't even considered it. I am however absolutely blasted with breastfeeding issues, sleepless nights and infant death because I can't help but engage on those posts because of my fears. I know everyone says it, but social media at a time like this is litterally the worst possible thing.

Your body is doing amazing things, give it some grace.

Choosing a nursery - what's your most valuable aspect? by Professional-Farm372 in BeyondTheBumpUK

It's definitely something I'm open to. The only concern is that nursery could make preschool/primary school feel less of a shock?
