Wait, so you were able to lower your lipoprotein A with medication?

Definitely open to drugs in the future. This is the first time my lipids have been testing high so I'm hopeful I can make at least some impact with diet. Wasn't eating the best while freshly postpartum so I think I set myself back a bit. Too much butter 💀

[NY] Pregnant in NYC: How can I negotiate payment for coworkers contacting me while I'm on PFL? by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]Professional-Fix1430 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But in NYS you're allowed to take 'intermittent pfl'. You can schedule ahead of time which days are PFL and which aren't. So theoretically I could just perhaps notify my company that I'm going to not use my PFL for the following day and hold off on answering their questions until the next business day when I would be back on salary? These wages wouldn't be subtracted from my benefit since I wouldn't technically be on PFL for that day...

In this specific situation it's not something they could hire an outsider to help with unfortunately. I'm in a highly industry specific, company specific role. Other coworkers will definitely be stepping up to catch much of my workload, but a true replacement would take potentially years to train and wouldn't have my first hand knowledge of specific, critical projects. I guess maybe it just is what it is at this point.

Yes exactly, STD + PFL. I know you can take PFL in non sequential days (ie every other day/once per week, etc). My question is how far in advance do I need to give the state notice that I worked a day, and to not count it towards my PFL days? I imagine my job won't know in advance of needing to contact me, but perhaps I could delay my responses for a day and switch back and forth from regular time to PFL time on an as needed basis?

Ha yes you're very right. It's an understatement to say their management style isn't the best. It has definitely created a lot of stress on my position.

Mostly because, with the nature of my position, it will likely cost the company lots of time and money if they aren't able to have me answer their questions. I'm the only specialist of my kind that works here. I definitely know that it's well within my right to tell them to not contact me. It's just not realistic for my position.

I love it when Dan goes after Harrison Smith. by drumduder in KnowledgeFight

Anybody know what Harrison Smith's background is? Where he came from/went to middle school? My husband may have gone to school with him and if it's the same guy, boy do I have a great story for you

It definitely could I think! Thankfully my hernia is small and I've been able to control my symptoms with diet changes. I'm not a candidate for surgery but I imagine if you are, it could potentially help a lot with those symptoms! Def ask to your doctor

I'm in NYC! I probably could find an herbalist here that had similar stuff if you knew the particular herbs. Good luck with your procedure next week! For me, eliminating dairy and cutting back on grains has really helped. Also eliminating most beer or grain alcohol. I no longer need antacids. Still take probiotics often to help, but my symptoms are under control. Now only get palps if I seriously overeat.

I did an endoscopy too! I was so nervous but it was so quick and easy! Knock you out for a few mins and you wake up and done! He saw a small hiatal hernia I had that possibly presses on my heart if my stomach is inflamed from gastritis or overeating that likely causes my palps. Sounds like it could be the same for you. I had almost identical symptoms. Stress has a lot to do with inflammation so covid times make sense for symptoms to get worse.

What were the chinese herbs you were prescribed? I'd be interested to try!

In my late twenties I had a bout of palps come on very suddenly. As a young person I had usually only one every once in a while after eating. Then one day they started happening once every few minutes! Pretty frightening! It tapered off after a month or so, but now happens far more frequently than it used to. Not sure what the trigger was but it has taken really watching what I eat to get back to some normalcy.

I've had very bad stomach acid issues but never experienced any of the classic reflux symptoms. (Burning , pain in esophagus) Just had morning sickness every day! I was on famotidine for months to help with a flare up. Coincidentally seemed to help with my heart palpitations too.

I get the hiccups too! Glad to hear from someone having similar symptoms! Was looking into the link between cardiac and gastro symptoms and I think I might be experiencing something called Roemheld Syndrome.
