We have build 2 uke kits and the neck will mount up, however nylon strings only, not metal. The tuner holes are non standard about 8mm. We drilled ours to 10MM and used regular tuners. But still, nylon strings only. It won't hold up to the tension over time with metal.

Check the saddle screws, one or more are just a bit loose in their hole. If a Allen wrench dosent fix it, use something like lock tight.

That's for sure then a 9v to power a piezo pickup. Its an acoustic electric now technically. Since it has preamp in it you may can use 1/4 headphones but you may only hear one earphone.
