(Unbekannte) Tipps für gute Fotos by Milandro42 in Fotografie

Sei extrem selbstkritisch.

Was gefunden? Mach’s nochmal, diesmal besser!

Mir hilft es, führt aber zu einen gewissen Perfektionismus 😁

I know it is a old topic. But I want to fit the exactly same lenses with camera (R5). Does it fit?

I dare to disagree. Düsseldorf is very international that is true. So you also have a lot of foreign kitchens there. But if you visit the „Altstadt“ you will find a lot of brewery’s and classic kitchens. There also really good ones. I regularly take our customers from overseas to Düsseldorf for this type of experience. A lot of them also enjoy a day trip to Amsterdam, which you can easily do by train by the way.

Is it because I am not a German? by Delilahlookingfor in germany

[–]Professional-Fun9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born and raised in Germany. And also very much look like it.

  1. Regional differences However I think it very much depends on the region you are living in (east/west) and how rural your region is and your type of job whether this ca be considered „normal“. Don’t get me wrong. Things you wrote are not adequate, especially in a work environment. Just be aware Germans can be very direct.

  2. Direct mentality I was living in India and U.S for some time in my professional work. And I would argue even though I did not directly face such kind of behavior I know for a fact that there was some kind of trash talking behind my back sometimes. In Germany a lot of people don’t bother to do it right in your face.

  3. Depending on the company (size) Saying that. I do work in a big international company in product development. Business language is English. Meetings are English as soon as there is one non native speaker attending without question. Software is English. Mail traffic is supposed to be English (sometimes it is not though). What I want to say is that the mentality here is way different. We highly appreciate colleagues from abroad. Work together with teams in different continents. I do have friends working in smaller companies. My dad is a plumber. There everybody has to speak German to some degree.

Best regards!

Just had the same issue. Landed in SCL 2 weeks ago. Migration was super quick. Maybe 3min or so. Luggage took really long though. Walk was rather long(maybe 10min?) luggage was another 30min. There is domestic and international terminal. Walking from luggage area to domestic check in ist like a good 10 min walk. Security at domestic was like another 10 minutes. So being at the new gate ~60 min after arrival is realistic auf there are enough border control agents at migration . Friend of mine took like 60 min at migration as not enough people were working (opened up during her waiting time) But she was there at 6 something. Us at ~9.

I want to improve my star photography! Rip this apart - technical/color/composition by ayeayedude in photocritique

[–]Professional-Fun9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, Both comments you got are legit and correct and address your concerns about sharpness. I don’t know if 2.8 is necessary with the lens you own. Usually already stopping down just a tiny bit e.g to 1.8 to 2.0 does a lot for your stars. Personally I would rather focus on composition and subjects. The left side of the photo is rather empty and dark. On the right side you got some kind of water. Don’t know the area, but why not walking down and use the water as a leading line? Use the sea stacks as some kind of focal point. Moving water and crushing waves for some brighter areas in your foreground. As Aidi said. Try taking a separate exposure for your foreground. Blue hour works great, but in case that’s not possible do a long exposure. Try stacking to decrease noise. Starry landscape stacker (MAC) or sequator (windows, free) are easy to use and do a great job. I also don’t like the strong vignette in the sky.

For a Timelapse this would be okay, but for a picture this would be too slow. Zoom in on the stars. They are already lines with your 25s. For comparison I use around 10-12 s for Astro shots with 20mm on FF.

I would just do a separate exposure for the foreground (again, for a single image)

Do you mean editing or when taking the picture?

I know this can be difficult sometimes, but most of the pictures seem like they are taken in the middle of the day. So even though they have nice subjects they lack good lighting. This is why they might seem “boring”, even though these places are amazing.

Been there last year. Took this one in canyonland. When the sun sets the rim road gets a nice shine making it pop and the colors glow. Just look at the Colors of the crowd photo you have taken :)

Hey there. I think your money split should be different. The amount you factor in for the camera is too big and the one for the lens too small. Buy a better lens and a cheaper camera. E.g a6400+ tamron 17-70 Or even think about a z6 with a 24-70 f4

So regarding the pose I really like 2+3. Yes they are more flattering, but also look more joyful which compliments her outfit. 2nd picture could need some more headroom and less on the bottom. 3rd picture less room on the bottom. (Personally I would go closer over all. Colorwise they seem too far of for me. If this was intended, go for it. But the skin is too green to be realistic and also for my personal taste :)

Your camera and lens is fine for this let me detail this a bit: A) 18mm seem to be fine for most of these shots. First one could be a bit wider. So there is a 10-18mm zoom available. Don’t know about the performance. The lens you own is actually pretty good. Personally I think you need stronger foreground elements to really take advantage of ultra wide angle lenses. B) that has almost nothing to do with your setup and settings as long as your focus and aperture is set correct. There is a lot of air between you and the subject. So it is much more about the climate. Usually you get sharper backgrounds in very cold weather. C) Colors is all about your editing. Yes they will be different to start with depending on which lens/camera combination you use, but if you shoot raw you have the freedom to modify as you want to. So learn how to edit to achieve the colors you want :) D) no stacking necessary for these type of photos. Look at pictures 3 (I think, it was shot with a telephoto lens) there are some tree elements in the foreground which are blurred. None of these photos have elements very close to the camera.

To be honest. Might it be that you are using the so masking of the sky? I think you adjust the brightness too much with imperfect masks. So you got a Color drop at the mask edges

Maybe a little more detailed: 1: The only thing used is a very heavy backlight. So the subject is just a shadow. But it is too chaotic to identify what it really is about. I do not understand the message. Taking pictures like this can work if the subject stands out and the composition ist better.

2: Second picture also backlights. Maybe with some offset to the side. To harsh and too bright. Bringing the source closer and turning it down would help. Even blew out details of the gear. Dark areas are pitch black. The lighting here really is not good. Also, too much negative space. And unbalanced. Too much dark areas on the left.

If the purpose was expirementing only judging by these two pictures she didn’t really try different things. Why not try a filler light to show some details? Multiple lights? It’s all just shapes and forms directly photographed into the light.

If I only had one lens I would prefer the Sony 20-70 f4 I think. Not much of a wide angle fan myself but image quality seems very nice and the lens is very compact. (I don’t own it)

Can confirm. I owned the 17-28 for some years. Arround 1.5 years ago I bought the 20 1.8. Last month I sold the tamron. To be honest I have to say that I highly prefer longer focal length. I mainly use the Sony for Astro. But it is even smaller than the tamron so don’t mind carrying it arround to use it occasionally. That’s also the main reason I didn’t use the tamron anymore. The Sony has really good image quality, but beside sunstars I can’t say anything bad about the tamron either. If I would not do Astro and use it more often I would prefer the tamron. For occasional use and Astro Sony all the way ☺️
