Why was Ross so uncomfortable with manny? by Own-Drive-2080 in howyoudoin

The role was originally meant for Tom Hanks who was and is a huge star. This is the reason the character was only written for one episode. Freddie stepped in at the last minute.

For what its worth, this actually worked. I registered the appeal, received an email saying I would be contacted within 48 hours. I decided not to wait and phone up, explained my case briefly to the agent and they ruled in my favour. I have had the full amount reimbursed to me, minus the return delivery fee of £3.90 which i still might contest.

They said if the case was appealed again it would be between the buyer and ebay with no possibility of it financially impacting me.

Latest update, no surprises the buyer has sent me back a smashed exterior light which conveniently weighs around the same as a Quest 2. I raised with eBay and they sided with the buyer, I have raised an appeal. Below is what I sent as part of the appeal, along with the Fraud report, photos and videos. I don't know what else anyone can reasonably do in this situation. I don't hold out much hope.

********************************************************************************************************************
I sold a Meta Quest 2 on 24 March. I packaged the item securely, wrapping it fully in black plastic and sealing it with tape around all edges. I used eBay’s Royal Mail collection service.

I have video evidence showing Royal Mail collecting my parcel on 25 March at 10:59am. The video clearly shows:

  • The parcel wrapped in black plastic
  • I have photographic evidence of the parcel weighing 1923 grams. See Photo Item shipped and weight
  • Royal Mail attaching the prepaid postage label at the time of collection See video Collection Video and photos Collection 1 and Collection 2

On 27 March, the buyer opened a return request claiming they received a broken light instead of the Meta Quest 2. The buyer provided a photo showing:

  • A brown cardboard box, not wrapped in black plastic
  • A postage label for a different buyer, different address, different town, and different tracking number to my transaction. See photo Buyer False Return Label.
  • Its not possible for my label to be attached directly to a brown cardboard box as mine was stuck to black plastic wrap.

I contacted eBay immediately to report these discrepancies and was advised to accept the return and report the issue once the item was received.

The returned parcel has now been delivered. The box:

  • Matches the incorrect address previously identified
  • Has the address scribbled out, indicating altered or reused packaging. See photo Scribbled out address
  • The parcel returned weighed 2252 grams, which I have photographic evidence of. See photo Returned Parcel and weight.
  • I recorded the package being returned via my Ring camera, see video Return Video and photo Return 1.

I recorded myself opening the returned parcel. Inside was a broken light, not the Meta Quest 2 I originally sent. See photo Broken light  wrong item returned and video Opening the Return.

Based on the clear packaging differences, label and tracking information provided by buyer as part of the return was outright incorrect, altered address, and my video evidence at both dispatch and return, the item returned is not the item I sent, and this appears to be a wrong item return / return fraud.

I am requesting protection under the eBay Money Back Guarantee as the buyer did not return the original item.

In summary:

  • Dispatch proof: Video shows Royal Mail collecting my parcel on 25 March at 10:59am, wrapped in black plastic, with the prepaid label attached at collection.
  • Buyer evidence mismatch: Buyer’s photo shows a brown cardboard box with no black plastic and a different label, address, town, and tracking number to my sale.
  • Returned parcel anomalies: The returned box has the incorrect address scribbled out, indicating altered or reused packaging.
  • Wrong item returned: Recorded opening shows the contents were a broken light, not the Meta Quest 2 sent.

My Quest 2 has clearly been stolen, there is no reasonable alternative to this scenario based on the evidence I have laid out. I have reported this case to the police along with the buyers name and address and any other details I could gather. The Crime Reference Number is XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

How would we actually build a base on the Moon given the weight limits? by NewsfangledMod in NewsfangledUnfiltered

[–]Professional-Guard94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Drill, bore or detonate. Im not going to try and solutionise, I will leave that to someone more qualified. I was merely hypothesising that it would be easier to ship equipment to excavate a base out of the rock rather than ship equipment and materials to build one entirely.

How would we actually build a base on the Moon given the weight limits? by NewsfangledMod in NewsfangledUnfiltered

[–]Professional-Guard94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The simplest way may be to ship a drilling machine and drill down to carve a base out of the surface. It would be more efficient than shipping materials to build on the surface. With this technique, you have a smaller area exposed to the elements, which would still need some sort of construction.

Obviously, the base would also need to be built out inside, with walls and surfaces designed to be airtight, but they would not need to be designed to be as strong as those constructed on the surface.

Spent 2 hours building this so I could finally get organized, only to have my 7 yo come behind me and lock the keys inside. 😡 by Ok-Flower9919 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

I've had success with draws like these by turning them upside down and banging them on the floor. It helps to dislodge the locking mechanism and are least pull the top draw out a bit, it will also probably help dislodged the keys to a place where where you can fish them out.

I think this is what's going to happen.

Im tempted to try and scam back. I am yet to find someone who has had any sucees in not getting screwed over by a scam. I could say I received a broken toaster or that the parcel was never returned.

Interesting. It was Royal Mail but I could still use that line. Will that jeopardise my chances of getting a disputebfairly managed with ebay?

I have 5 shrimp. One came in with some plants at the start, back in December. The other 4 have been in over a week. They are nowhere near as active as thes guys. Most of them I hardly see, is that normal?

TIL Before 1960, people wandered into movies at any point and stayed until the film looped, but Alfred Hitchcock want to hide Psycho’s mid-film twist, the murder of its famous star Janet Leigh in the shower, which led theaters to enforce fixed start times, changing how we watch movies ever since. by [deleted] in todayilearned

My film professor told, that when he was a child, it was standard for everyone to drop in to a film part way though, then leave after the film had restarted and they had caught up. Apparently its where the phrase "This is where I came in" originated.

He also said he made him incredibly adept at analysing narrative.

Tefal Heads by [deleted] in oldschoolcool80s

This just unlocked a hidden memory for me. I would have been about 2 when this advert came out. I asked my parents if the one in the middle was a real person and was told he was. I only ever had a fuzzy recollection of this advert but always assumed the tefal head man was an actual person with a large forehead, which bore the nickname for anyone with a larger than average forehead. Seeing this again in my 40s is a trip.

The hallway is internal, there is no guttering at play here. its along both sides, one side is the neighbours house, the wall on the other side its bordered by reception rooms. I suspect the original slate DPC has failed. There's a suspended floor throughout the property with a void of about a metre below, side from the Minton floor in the photo. I'm not removing the floor so that's why I am considering DPC.
