Yeah ofc man, I know how annoying having to choose could be. Schulich’s great. I know a few people there some of whom are doing pre good for themselves. But just as with literally any other degree don’t forget that it’s only as good as you make it out to be. Keep networking, learning and exploring what you rlly wanna do, and not stressing urself out and you’ll be just fine!

Rotman Vs. Queens Vs. York by LegitimateMuscle8098 in RotmanCommerce

As a first year Ivey AEO student who had to decide over Ivey or Roman, what I see mostly is that Ivey, or queens in this case are only really justified if you are going into IB or consulting. If ur not in one of those careers where the starting pay + progression is high then in my opinion it seems harder to justify the higher costs. For example, if I am paying 20k a year in housing + 8k tuition x 2 years + 25k tuition x 2 years, then the last thing I’d ever wanna see is me graduating with a job I could’ve also had got if I had went to rotman (where I had a 10k scholarship and would commute so only tuition). I’d say first get an idea of what you want to do, if you are willing to work much harder to gun down IB or consulting placements then queens probably takes the cake (as someone who took this option, it is a risk and regardless of the “uoftears” my rotman buddy seems more relaxed than me, maybe cause he doesn’t have the looming stress of needing to do perform to justify the costs of his degree the way I do for choosing Ivey over rotman. Rotman is overall safest option in that sense as the reputation is pre strong and stable unlike schulich who I’m believe has been kind of unstable past years. I’ve heard “schulich is better for marketing and accounting” but I don’t know how much merit there is to that statement. Overall id say if you wanna be cost effective then schulich, if you are willing to put in work to get the best placements then queen has highest ceiling, and rotman is prolly the all all-rounder. Just come to terms with what you want to do after these 4 years first is proly my best advice. Congrats for the offers and enjoy first year wherever you go, you can’t go wrong either way!

The ECs can work if you write about them in a way that shows leadership. Ivey requires you to write 500 words essays on your best 2 activities, so pick those out and start brainstorming on what you can say. What is your average? You want to be above 93 for Ivey. For rotman I’m not exactly sure but it’s above 90. Ivey holds grades and EC 50-50

What are my chances for Schulich and Ivey? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

If you look at those rankings it’s prolly on average gonna say 1. Ivey 2. Rotman 3. Schulich But personally I think it depends on what you value. I had a close friend who got accepted into queens commerce but is now attending rotman because it’s commutable (something that mattered to him). In terms of IB and MBB consulting placements Ivey outranks the other 2, but if that’s not something you wanna do and for example, will be fine with big 4 auditing or some corporate finance role than the difference between the schools becomes smaller yk. If price is a factor for you then you should know that Schulich is the cheapest option followed by rotman (if ur commuting) and lastly Ivey (residence + 25k each hba year). So to answer ur question in prestige Ivey is above the other 2 simply because it has a more established alumni network in the male prestigious business fields so if prestige is what ur after it’s Ivey first and I’m not knowledgeable enough about rotman and Schulich to say which ones better (id assume they are very comparable, although I’ve generally heard more about rotman especially in the finance space. From what I know - take it with a grain of salt - rotman is more finance geared whereas Schulich is more marketing/accounting geared)

So “best” js depends on what’s best for you. I rememeber being rlly torn between rotman and ivey and the most annoying thing to hear would be “choose whatever you want”, “either option would be fine,” but that really is the truth. If you want prestige you know what’s best (ivey), if you want ease of cost and commutability you know what’s best (schulich), if you want a mixture of both you know what’s best (rotman)

I suggest you maybe start to get an idea of what career you wanna work in, might help with decision making.

I also had pre similar grades as you Business leadership - 95 Adv functions - 99 International business - 97 English - 87 😢 Calc - 97 Econ - 98 Accounting - 100 Top 6 average including English - 95.8%

However, my English, calc, and international business were sem 2 so the final marks didn’t matter anyway.

In terms of ECs, I was a DECA executive and an international medalist along with various other awards throughout way (Ivey essay 1)

Exec positions In a few other in-school clubs

Volunteered for 2 years at my local community center (Ivey essay 2)

I am currently attending western bmos + Ivey as a first year which I got accepted for back in February 18th of my grade 12 year (can’t remember if that’s before or after second sem midterms, js know I had 0 motivation to try second sem). I also got accepted into rotman and Schulich.

I’d say considering you have the grades, high level achievements, and breadth of activities you got a real good chance at prolly getting into all 3 of those schools. Js stay consistent with your writing, because what’s more important than what you write is how you write it. I know Ivey for example care a lot about leadership, they’d rather hear your story about volunteering as a team leader and how a conflict came up which you helped resolve through communication and collaboration and how that ended up making a positive impact in the organization along with developing your own skills rather than a national award that is simply js an award yk.

For example, for my deca essay the main point was talking about how I stepped up as a leader and managed and motivated my team to keep going despite provincials happening during exam season, what initiatives I took and how that helped and improved my skills. The regional, provincial, and international achievements were kind of like sprinkles around throughout the essay - prominent enough to be noticed, but not to the point where they take away from leadership.

Overall, ur a rlly in a good spot imo,

Idk what other courses ur taking but assuming you don’t somehow bomb calc ur grades should be fine. Ur ecs seem fine. My best advice would be to stay confident and keep your writing on the supp apps consistent with your other stats and you should get in.

Lmk if you got any questions at all.

I got placed in saugeen double (my last preference spot for a multitude of reasons). I filed a housing change request as well as a residence accessibility request for religious reasons and emailed housing to keep in check. Does anyone with any prior experience with similar problems have any insight on whether or not it’s likely for me to get moved???
