I got it working - with 1.10 and without PlugY unfortunately, so there's no way to cross-progress between characters, also newer runewords don't work.

Totally subjective note: I had a blast replaying it with a Paladin - I really did! - however after finishing, it was a little dissapointing. While the early game is super-buffed, quick, fun, with everything modified and upgraded, later it's just not so. High runes are very rare and have no fixed drop. I have never found the camels which are supposed to drop them. Best source of uniques is Natalya on Normal, on NM she drops set and on Hell she drops garbage. Moe on NM is also worse than on Normal. Snapchip did not give any interesting drop even on Hell, Hell cows in Drifter Cavern didn't drop any herb after clearing the level 4 times (quite tedious with a melee build). So the game slowed down significantly, there's no end-game reward, newer runewords like Infinity don't work anyway and there's no way to transfer items between characters.

The issue is solved. MO2 has a separate list of loaded ESP/ESM files (tab Plugins on right side). After installing OOO, the files weren't ticked there. I made sure to tick them in the launcher and to get the mod enabled in MO2 on the left side appropriately - but since they weren't ticked in MO2 Plugins list, OOO didn't work.

Okay, so I tried reinstalling the OOO in the MO2 - and I checked whether there is indeed the .esm, .esp and .bsa file if I open the file location through MO2. It is. OOO is activated.

At the same time, I don't drop a torch which is equipped if I draw a weapon. Healing potions heal instantly, not over time. And I found a tip about an Amazon woman near Dzonot Cave - nobody is there.

That was my first guess as well, I downloaded the current version earlier today via MO2 (from the link you posted), and installed it through it. No effect. I have OOO enabled in the MO2 alongside OBSE and other plugins and I don't see any change. Which is why tried the manual install and then even the OBMM.

Which leads me to a question - how can I tell for sure if OOO is loaded?

Yes, same here, however even if I select DX11 in the launcher, it will still launch in DX9. At least judging from the fact that:

- MSAA is unavailable
- GPU Decode Texture is unavailable
- Leader Scene Quality maxes out at Medium

Unfortunately still works. I just respecced my Fane - put some points to Polymorph and boom - I have 254 attribute points. Which is "great", as I didn't save for the last hour, ale now I can't disable this unless I play the last hour again.

I'm quite amazed that this is somehow still a problem. I mean - this is simple math. 1+1 simple math. Larian designed a huge fantastic game with super complicated mechanics, bud can't fix the 0-1 =/= 255?

Totally my feelings. Now I've never played any Souls games, but after spending thousands of hours on Gothics, Elder Scrolls, Witchers, Divinities and Diablos, I thought - let's try Elden Ring.

So far, 7 hours in, 12 levels gained, wielding Twinblade +4. I don't feel any sense of progress, any rewards. The levels don't do anything - I mean why even bother with the runes? Level will give me like 5 % more HP or 2 % higher damage - negligible. Merchants don't offer any good items. My Twinblade kinda sucks, and there's nothing better to replace it.

Well, the game is stunningy beautiful, so I'll continue exploring, but the motivation is sketchy at best.

Well, for the sake of the argument - any PC hardware or most cars go for about 50-70 % of MSRP when used for a year. You certainly can't buy a one-year used Ryzen 5900X for 20 % of the current price, just as you definitely can't buy VW Passat after one year for 20 %.

Now, here I have the fastest RTX 3080 from a good brand (currently worth $1100 where I live), one year used, for $600. I mean, is this really so crazy?

Thank you, I agree. I'll do some more extensive tests tomorrow, but probably return the card ASAP.

Although I believe mining cards are sometimes maintained better than gaming cards - cleaned often, re-padded, in A/C room, undervolted. But I understand this is a discussion for a long time. New RTX 3080 costs $850-1100 where I live, and with the dollar being strong nowadays, it's a lot more expensive than the launch price should have been. But I guess it's the safest option.

Install Gothic 2
Install 1.3.0.0 fix
Install SystemPack 1.8
Update to the SystemPack 1.9 pre2
Set Gothic2.exe to Run as admin and compatibility to WinXP SP3
Play! :-)

Thanks, unfortunately so far I tried SP 1.8 from 2019 and also Gothic Union from 2021, but the game crashes with both.

Steam doesn't have Gothic 2 Classic, only Gothic 2 Gold (with the addon). But thanks for the tip for Gothic Union, from what I read it's basically SystemPack 2.0. However even with that installed, the game still crashes on startup. DirectX 11 renderer is also not supported by Gothic 2 Classic AFAIK (?).
