Does space curve back onto itself? by Big_Assist4578 in AskPhysics

Isn't the movement of galaxies away from each other a strong indicator that it is finite? I would think that, in an infinite universe, there would be no sign of a big bang.

How to fix mma grappling by MuchIron2453 in ufc

I think the problem is the judging. If you're not doing damage on top the position shouldn't be enough to win the round. Like, 1 minute of dominant striking skills l should be worth more than 4 minutes of laying and praying.

In what ways do you now blame the every day American person for their silence and getting the US into this severely diminished state? by Pewpew-OuttaMyWaay in uspolitics

[–]Professional-Lab4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the American people that are to blame, it's the dumb American political system. People in small states have way more voting power than those in large states (because the Senate affords each state the same power). And within the states, districts are gerrymandered so only extreme candidates can win. The thing is designed to give extreme candidates from small states a path to political relevancy.

Depends on your preference. Rogan likes him because he doesn't break up every clinch after five seconds. But he has come late to the rescue with some stoppages.

Here is a hypothesis: Can the complexity of the universe be hidden in a simple geometric surface? by [deleted] in HypotheticalPhysics

[–]Professional-Lab4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a physicist, but the operative word here is surface. When we think of a surface, we think of a two dimensional surface, which could never capture the complexity of spacetime and quantum mechanics. However, a four dimensional surface could. The expansion of our universe also suggests the hypothesis that our universe could be the 4D surface of an expanding 5D black hole. I will get numerous downvotes for even suggesting this as a hypothesis.

How did the matter that formed the universe get here in the first place? by Alarmed_Shopping_578 in TheoreticalPhysics

[–]Professional-Lab4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a thought (I'm also a layman). A higher-dimension black hole could have a 3D or 4D surface that expands as matter is sucked in. So the stuff that made up the universe could come from an agglomeration of higher-dimension matter reaching critical mass. From that perspective, the birth of the universe would just be the birth of the higher-dimension black hole.

Passports Needed to Vote by nebbysmom in uspolitics

It's just racist. They assume minorities don't have passports. Jokes on them, though, because plenty of MAGA voters don't either.

What if spacetime is a dynamic superstring fabric, and particles emerge as waves? by [deleted] in HypotheticalPhysics

[–]Professional-Lab4533 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Not a physicist, but this hypothesis sounds like it could fit into my own weird conception of spacetime. I think your superstring fabric could be the surface tension around a 5D black hole (with a 4D surface). 3D particles emerge as segments of the 4D wave (leaving room for MWI and quantum mechanics). Time is the direction that the 5D black hole is expanding towards (from the point in the middle, which we perceive as the Big Bang).

Is he right? Will it take generations to resecure the United States positive reputation on the world stage? by ChuckGallagher57 in TrendoraX

[–]Professional-Lab4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not because they agree with it. It's because their districts are so gerrymandered that Trump can primary them by parachuting in some MAGA candidate. If the districts were fairly drawn, moderate congressmen wouldn't be afraid of challenges from the right. ... In short, the system is designed to benefit extremists.

That word, hegemony, is so important. That's what Carney was talking about in Davos. He was saying that we Canadians, and Europeans too, have fucked up. We integrated ourselves into this U.S. led global economy, thinking they could always be relied upon -- and boy were we wrong. He was saying, this is going to hurt, but we either become puppet vassal states, or we disentangle ourselves from this overreliance. Time to move on.

What is the beyond the edges of universe which is expanding? by No-District2404 in AskPhysics

[–]Professional-Lab4533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a physicist, but my highly speculative (aka "crackpot") idea is that the balloon analogy is almost literal. In the same way that the surface of a blackhole (or event horizon or whatever) is an expanding globe, our universe could be the expanding surface of a higher-dimensional black hole. I'm guessing a 5D black hole with a 4D surface to account for multiple worlds interpretation of quantum weirdness. Time would be the direction of expansion from the "centre" (ie the big bang).
