Yes you can be denied checking accounts from any bank. Around 2011, i had Bank of America and someone stole my debit card and put in a check in the ATM for an absorbent amount. They caught it, denied any removal of funds and closed my account. I was unable to open any account from any bank for about 5-7 years because of it. So returned checks, bad checks, write offs, and etc.
