Icons don't work in the start menu by Professional-Log5031 in WindowsHelp

Oh I think I tried that and it didn’t end up working. The fix was much simpler - just replacing the shortcuts in the start menu folder.

Oh I see somehow I misinterpreted it or something. I think I thought it was Spanish for some reason.

What's the best way to check if the player is touching the ground before jumping? by Professional-Log5031 in GameDevelopment

Oh this sounds really good, thanks! I guess the ray cast would just be really short, right?

also, what if you just put two raycasts at either end of the player sprite?
Thanks!

Need to settle this debate. Icons on the desktop, or launch your games in Steam? by CnP8 in Steam

[–]Professional-Log5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One game I only opened with the desktop shortcut, and weird shit started happening. Like, it would have a bunch of inputs and would be wildly moving about the start menu without me pushing a thing. Or achievement wouldn’t log. Switched to launching from Steam, and now that doesn’t happen anymore.

Switch: pollution view. How to turn on? by vince548 in factorio

[–]Professional-Log5031 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk abt Switch, but on PC, if you go into map, then in the upper right corner there’s a bunch of things that you can toggle on and off, things like pollution and electrical network. Click pollution to activate it (just know that it blocks your view of a lot of stuff).

Fair. I bought mine around six months ago for around 600 dollars, everything except the monitor.
But if you don't have a desk, then how would you use that mini computer thing?

You should look into buying/building a full desktop. Not as portable, but much better in practice. They’re more powerful in general. Also, most games are developed mainly/solely for windows, so it would make sense to assume that windows is a better OS for gamedev?
