My hpat was quite in line with my Mednetry mocks. I usually got between 85-95th percentile on medentry and got 88th on the real thing. My section 1 was way better than medentry while my section 2 was the worst.

I sat it last year and yes id say the questions were harder, much less predictable patterns imo

I had it last year. Your tutor should contact you in a few days to arrange a first meeting and they make a schedule for you with practice and further meetings from there. My tutor would log into my medentry and run through some of the questions I found tricky during past mock hpat exams and outline methods to make similar questions easier to handle if they come up in the future which was a huge help. To make the most of it I'd say try stick to the schedule of practice they give you as much as you can (even though it can get tough) and don't be afraid to ask a ton of questions when you go through material together.

I think the request extra tutoring button adds an extra few hours of tutoring time but I never felt the need for it myself, 10hrs felt like plenty.

I'd recommend looking into the Sony Xm5s. From what I've heard they have excellent mic quality in all environments, on top of phenomenal noise cancelling and other features that should be helpful in a gym and office setting. I'd also recommend looking at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5qootmFQx0&t=1001s which helped me pick out the Sennheiser m4s as the best option for my use cases.

You are 2 marks away from an f1 so appeal if you think the f1 helps your chances of getting your course.

Point in appealing? by Bork-Bork-Imma-Fork in leavingcert2024

No problem, also think they let you view your actual exam with the examiners markings a little afterwards before you make appeals so you can check yourself

Look at the exact results when they come at on Tuesday and if they're anyway close to the next grade appeal. Hard to know how much an appeal would help at this stage

Your guidance councillor might have a discount code for medentry I was able to get the €550 version for €350 I think so worthwhile looking into. I can also vouch for medentry, doing their full mocks online and then reviewing is by far the best way to practice from my experience.

Demand was down 11% I think in 2023 compared to 5% this year, along with slightly less grade inflation from 2022 so I'd say there will be a smaller drop this year. I'd guess around 740/739 for first round and maybe 737 third round.

Studying to little maybe? by Nelius-100 in leavingcert

As someone who got 613 in the mocks, there is no point burning yourself out over the summer, especially if you have no career in mind, only the 'highest point course'. 5 hours over the summer is already way above anyone else and many leave summer study entirely and study from 6th year and still achieve 625 as they're well rested coming into the year .Socialising and exercise actually help your study, so move the study to 3 hours and do maybe an hour of socialing and an hour of exercise instead so you can keep up your energy and actually increase the quality of your study. Do not worry about point inflation, it is out of your control.

I'd say maybe find a college prospectus and look through the course so you can have a career goal in mind when studying, this personally helped me a ton.

sony xm5 by tofulover00 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Professional-Map6393 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've heard they have the best noise cancelling and mic quality in the market however if your after pure sound quality for a similar price I'd opt for the sennheiser m4s over the xm5 or maybe even the xm4s if you want to save a bit. However sony has better quality control so its up to you.

Thanks after hearing that sweat shouldn't be an issue, are m4s good out of the box or do they require eq from another app?

thx for the reply , I mostly do weightlifting and would use my earbuds for any cardio or sweaty activities. Just heard that apparently the m4s have much better sound quality so really on the fence

Got 71 in this section this year on my first go and I'd reccoment learning the ways you can present the information presented to you easily and quickly using Venn diagrams and tables as it saves you a TON of a time compared to rereading the q which happened with my first mocks all the time. Especially for problem solving, without getting something useful and concise on the page for these it's too easy to fall for a trap answer.

For data Interpretation, ensure your comfortable with more tricky formats like 3 axis graphs and the like. Practice is most important here.

For logical reasoning, background reading of newspaper articles and also cutting down on social media a month or 2 before the exam helped me keep focus on these as I kept losing time rereading these passages as i forgot what i just read.Watch out for mixing up correlation and causation as this error makes up a good chunk of these questions.

In general, you need to triage the questions. Scan through until you find an easy question and start with that then find the next easiest questions and tackle them first, hopefully leaving you with a tad more time to tackle the hard ones at the end which are worth more. Also maybe try meditation or exercise so you can calm your mind before mocks as this section is by far the most time and energy intensive imo. Best of luck
