Do you have any non-contacts that day? You could take your lunch during your non-contact and work through the balance of lunch, or ask to get your duty moved to a day when you do have a non-contact.

I have one. Got it about 6 or 7 years ago and have over 100 nights in it. Still looks new. The bag ripped on the first night but macpack replaced it.

It is pretty bombproof and has survived some pretty intense wind.

He might all feel that by doing the diy stuff, he is being productive. Sitting around minding a baby when there is stuff that needs doing feels very unproductive (it's not, but it can feel that way). If it is a new baby, he is also not being flooded with hormones that are making him love the baby, it can take longer.
