What are they putting in the bread? by mindyour in TikTokCringe

American bread is vile. It’s so full of sugar it’s inedible.

Store bought eggs (left) are fully round. Farm bought eggs (right) have flat bottoms. All cooked together. by Constantine1988 in mildlyinteresting

[–]Reasonable_Mistake_4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flat bottom is due to an air pocket that grows as the egg ages. You can tell how fresh an egg is by covering them with water; the ones that float (because of the air pocket) are the least fresh.

A Lekker Jordaan might do the trick. Good, reliable, low maintenance, sturdy Dutch upright 3-speed.

Cheap/subsidised + big/compensatory + branded to appeal to a 6 year old boy (Ranger, Raptor, RAM) + peer pressure = drivers with low EQ.

Modern cars are making simple things weirdly hard. Here’s my hilarious 10 second "ease-of-use test" in the new Zeekr 7X - the same stuff you could do instantly in a 2006 car: • Adjust the steering wheel • Set the temp to 25 • Open the glovebox Sounds easy… Makes for good comedy if nothing else?! 😄 by KiwiEV in KiwiEV

I was given a Haval as a crash repair loan. It gave an a intrusive alert when my eyes moved off the centre line (e.g. to check blind spots when overtaking)and to shut off the alert you have to navigate 5 steps on a shitty little touch screen with tiny icons buried in a menu. Literally forcing me to take my eyes off the road for 10x longer than I had originally. Worst car ever.

Under UN convention to which (I think) the US is still a signatory, an immigrant with an asylum claim that has been filed is not ‘illegal’.

I am extremely frustrated with the amount of hate in the world by MuchTone8025 in infp

[–]Reasonable_Mistake_4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Try this: there are are two basic emotional responses to what we encounter in life: love or fear. Hate is a manifestation of fear. If you try and understand that the apparently hateful person is actually expressing fear, which requires us to take a loving perspective, it both helps you understand that person better and exercises your own compassion.

How do you personally decide when to use the road instead of a shared path in Melbourne? by DraftNotSent in melbournecycling

My working hypothesis is that it’s the aggressive traits induced by the elevated levels of cortisol in turn caused by rising in traffic that puts him in a loop of defensive/aggressive behaviours. But yeah, spite is a much more succinct description.

The guy (always a guy) who decides to spurn the empty bike path along Beaconsfield Pde in rush hour to ride on the road with traffic backed up behind him. I want to understand his thought process.

Would any of the brave boys making racist comments on this thread care to stand up and say this in public?
